Stomach Cancer Warriors and Caregiver Family

I started a support group on Facebook for stomach cancer warriors and caregivers as I find that it is very easy access to me...easy to remember the name.. Easy, and with all that is going on in my world I need Easy especially when it comes to getting support. I am a caregiver to the 47 year old love of my life, my husband. He has not only Stage 2A Adenocarcinoma which resulted in a complete gastrectomy, but also Follicular Non Hodkins Lymphoma Stage 4. I hope that some if not all of you will join me here as another source of love and support. Not to get you to stay away from this amazing site, but just to give you another option where your support, experience and love would be greatly appreciated.

    I have Stage 2
    I have Stage 2 adenocarcinoma. I started chemo on Nov. 28 with 3 different kinds of chemo. I wear a pump 24/7. I had 3 big rounds of chemo and then I have the pump for 2 more weeks. They will decide on surgery at that point. After I re-coop from surgery, I will have 3 more rounds of chemo and the pump. I am interested in the surgery and any side effects your husband may have had. I am a 71 year old lady that has never been sick a day in her life. I am the caretaker of my husband so this has been a complete shock for us both. This week I got my first mouth sores. I am using the paste in my mouth and pills. Hopefully that will help as they are painful. I have had a easy time with the chemo until last week and I am so tired now and then the mouth sores. Any info you have about the suregery and your husbands regiman. Thank you.

    Avoiding mouth sores
    My son is on chemotherapy for metastatic gastric cancer.Rinsing the mouth and gargling with water containing soda bicarb seems to help him.(Two tsps soda bicarb to 1litre of water)You could try it too.Best wishes to you.

    Dear friend
    I hope your side affects have eased up for you this last month. My husband is one year and 5 months away from the surgeries for his complete gastrectomy. He has had a variety of side affects, the worst being nausea and exhaustion/weakness. He did have sensitivity to cold for awhile, but nothing that affected his breathing. Currently, he is working on gaining back the weight that he lost during radiation/chemo treatment that ended in August of 2011. He has gained a little over 13 pounds since then, eating 5 small meals that for him don't start until around 3pm when he begins to get hungry. He does not drink any beverage with his meal as he has experienced the dumping syndrome which is not comfortable for him at all. He hasn't stopped eating any of his favorite foods...thank you God!!! The thought of that upset him quite a bit!!
