Thank you William for offering help. Jarrell is curently recieving chemo at the stuart ongology center here in Florida. He also completed 28 radiation session recently. He is in the late stages of the cancer and surgery is not an option. I understand the cancer to the best of my ability. I know it is a very tough cancer. When he was diagnosed the tumer was 2 1/2 inches reaching into his stomach (please forgive my spelling). Since his radiation he has been unable to eat and drinks very little they have been hydrating him often and have stoped the chemo for now.
In Jan 2011 he had a scope and was told acid reflux and medication changed many times. After being diagnosed in July and retrieving all records we found out that a biopsy was done on his esophegus and it was to small to test. Other test were suggested. We were never informed of the biopsy or option for other test. This makes me very angry.
Jarrell is 60 years old and has no other pre medical conditions. He was a very strong indavidule untill this cancer always very healthy.
I am stressed out worrying about the bills, trying to work and take care of him. We have medicaid insurance right now. His disability goes into effect next month and I recieved a letter stating the medicaid will end. I am at a loss as to how we will pay his medical bills as we have used what little savings we had to live in for these 6 months.
Again I thank you for your response. It helps to talk about it with people who are there or have been there

Ida as sad as it is, you have come to the right place. I am a stage IV and have been at this since April 2010. I don't know where your husband is being treated, but if it is by chance a University based hospital, make an appointment with the Cancer Center Social Worker. These hospitals often have internal programs and means to get treatment covered when insurance is a problem. Also, contact your local American Cancer Society they also have programs that can help. I know no one wants to hear this, but if your husband is palative care only, meaning not a surgery candidate, you should talk to Hospice. They can become invovled and are able to cover medications and assistance at no charge. Hope these suggestions help. Other than the stress of knowing your loved one has this disease there is nothing worse than financial pressure to boot. Sam Stage IV and hanging in there.0 -

Ida, I also sent you a private message. I included the names & phone #'s of the social worker and dietician located at the cancer center in Stuart. I hope they help. They helped me a lot.

Hello Ida:
I am so glad you found us and very sorry that you need to. You will get a lot of good information here - everyone here (even the newest ones) have helped us so much. My husband will be 61 on Feb. 3rd, which in medical terms today is too young for this crap. But many others are struggling with heavier burdens than ours.
Please feel free to vent your anger, ask questions, ask for advice, ask where to get help, there is at least one person here who hasexperienced what you are experiencing and we are here for you and hubby all the way.
Give your troubles to God - like someone said - He is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and with the earthly saints He has provided to us on this site - you are in good hands.
Hugs, and again, Welcome Ida!
