ENT Monday for ear and mouth problem

As I posted a while ago, am having trouble with ear pain and a sore inside of mouth, it comes and goes and has only been there since I had my teeth removed and dentures made. Go to the Ent on Monday so he can take a look.

    Wish you well
Hope your ENT can solve it. I frequently have ear pain, but a lot of times it is caused by dryness and it is plugged up. The ENT cleans it and at times, I rinse it out with baby oil for a few days. Have you determined that the dentures may not fit correctly and may cause some sores? Anyway, just some thoughts and hope for the best.

    Comes and goes--that's good
Hi Denis, you've been through it lately. I'm glad to hear the sore comes and goes. It does sound like it could be related to the fitting and use of the new dentures. Cancerous tissue never comes and goes as far as I've ever heard. Swelling in the soft pallet, when it comes, could account for ear problems if it causes pressure on the eustacion tube maybe. I hope this is your last bump.

    best, Hal

    similar problem
it's now been over 1 year since my mom's first surgury on 11/15/10 for tonsil cancer and radiaition which was completed on 2/17/11, second surgury for small tongue cancer was on 10/6/11. Yesterday we went to her ENT and we spoke about my mom's problem. She is having slight pain during swallowing in the same spot as her original cancer. A little ear pain or ruther iching as well. Doctor scoped her and said he doesn't see anything but as long as the pain comes and goes it is nothing to be worried about. If the pain will be there all the time and if it will get worse then we will go for CT or PET scan next month. Not sure what to think, I am already fricking out since my mom already had 2 surguries done. Anyone any advise? .

Hope this is a quick I.D. for the ENT and it is a new teeth issue.

More healing thoughts on the way
    Denis

Sending healing thoughts your way. Here's to good news from the ENT on Monday. Don't have dentures yet myself, but I do know my parents had some issues with mouth sores shile adjusting.

Hang in there. Just a bump in the road.

    Hoping the mouth sore is
Hoping the mouth sore is just denture related. As for the ear pain, mine has been on and off since I had my tumor. Sometimes the pain is pretty intense. Hope your ENT has answers for you. Mine never seem to have answers.

    Ear
Thanks all, I do believe it is denture related, also my ears are pretty clogged up, the left one pops when I swallow sometimes, and if I am awake and turnover in bed, I have to yank on the lobe to open it, hope they will vacuum them on Monday. the soreness and pain does come nd go, the sorespot in the mouth is right where the edge of the top denture meets the palate, if my teeth are out I can put my finger on that spot and it's sore to the touch, also the top dentures sometimes make me gag, apart from that everything is just great ezcept for the bills still coming in, don't they ever end? Just got back from Hershey med Center, doctor said everything is OK, some fluid in ears and dentures causing the mouth soreness, will make an appointment with the audiologists, looked down my throat and around my mouth and said all,s kosher. Cool

Glad to here everything looked ok. I have been on a corticosteroid because of fluid in my ears. Apparently radiation can cause some side effects, and issues with eustachian tubes.

    you know
the eustachian tube thing is pretty wierd. The diameter of the tube can either decrease or increase. If it decreases, fluid is a problem, and potentially equalizing inner ear pressure can be a problem.

In my case, the diameter increased, which made it super easy to equalize pressure. So when I scuba dive, I can just dive straight to the bottom without stopping to work on equalizing my ear pressure. It always makes the divemaster jealous.

    Great news Dennis
I had an ear problem and it turned out to be a build up of wax. My mind went wild with what it could be, I couldn't hear very well and it sounded like my jaw was squeaking when I talked....so glad to hear all is manageable for you now...
    all the best,

    Steve

visit the ent dr each 3
visit the ent dr each 3 months to clear up the wax. otherwise it will damage you ear drum and
hear will be lose. 5 year later ask dentist to check the jaw bone too see how the condition
it may damage by radiation. causing you gum big problem and need a jaw bone replacement.
it it a big surgery. 13 hours. hope you remember.
