Funny what you forget between surgeries
My tongue is swollen from the surgery and it's harder to swallow and my speech seems more messed up. But I could be all wrong. It's only be a week. I've started eating soft food again and taking less pain meds. My speech is improving, although I have tons of thick saliva (oh, how I've learned to hate thick saliva). Have to keep remembering it's only been a week.

I've only had a biopsy on my tongue, once, and that sucked. I cannot imagine having to have actual surgery. The thought makes me quite nauseated, actually. I hope you heal quickly.0 -
You should be fine.
It's amazing what healing we can achieve. I find it hard to be patient as well. In Oct. they had to take 1/2 my tongue even at the root level. Swallowing is hard, but I was so happy to be able to swallow water. Sounds like you're way ahead. If you're already eating, I bet you're VERY improved in less than an month.0 -
What you said
I've had a few surgeries myself. I can relate to what you just said. My memory is convenient. Once healed, my brain tells me "that wasn't too bad." LOL, the plain fact is, the dang things are pretty unpleasant.
Wishing you continued rapid recovery.

That's a great way of thinking about it. I don't downplay how I'm feeling or my frustration, but I try to approach all my treatments so far as "life beyond this moment." So when I'e been back to work a couple of weeks after surgery or treatment, you sometimes forget how bad it really was. Worse, however, is I sometimes forget the stuff that worked to help alleviate the problems.0
