Waiting for Pet scan #2....wanting to be optimistic.

I haven't been writing in a while...I've been watching and praying for all our readers and writers,survivors and those who have passed on this past year.My dad's NSCLC STAGE 3B,last chemo was on 10/5/11, and his first PET on 10/12 was negative for any metastisis anywhere,remebering that he had subcarinal lymph node involvment, 2 nodes, which was not amenable to surgery, unfortunately.He made it through 39 rad treatmens and a total of 9 chemo treatments of carboplatin and taxol.He quit smoking 6/2/11 and has not smoked since.He smoked over 50 yrs.appx 1 pack per day.He does drink alcohol, has always,but not during chemo/radiation.I wish he didn't, b/c of the sugar.etc..He eats well.He is very tough for 77,almost 78 in April.He really never was sick during chemo/rad. Only once did he feel nauseated.Zofran pill is very good for this problem.He was tired, though,took afternoon naps.His tumor was a 13mm right lower lobe,responded well to radiation.
Lost his hair, finally after all the chemo,grown in pretty well now.I didn't think he was going to lose his hair, but..he did.Labwork came back almost to baseline.He has a very strong constitution.He is from the old country-Croatia.

Now here we are...waiting for Jan 12th.Hoping for a NED PET this time too...Please pray for my dad and my family....I believe in the power of prayer and positive thinking.

You ALL are my heros,I can't express that enough,thankyou for being there for me for the past 7 months.You are stronger than most.

I've learned that cancer does not have to be a death sentence, as I thought back in June of this year.Will keep in touch.....Blessings, Cathy,(kado)

    Hello Ex Rock N Roller!! Happy New Year!! I would like to thank you for being there for me and my dad through all of this...you have given me strengh and feelings of encouragement that I was able to extend to my father, and my family.I will never forget your kindness and "fighting spirit" that you gave to me.You were right..my dad did feel like he was carrying a safe on his back after radiation...tough times, but HE DID IT!!

    Will keep you and your family in my prayers for a clean scan on the 12th. I'm praying for good news on the 12th also as that is when I get the results of my last CT scan.

    Tell your dad he's a true fighter and with his spirit and attitude he will do well.

    Thankyou so much for your positive thoughts and prayers for my dad and my family.I pray to God that your CT Scan comes back clean...please let it be so.....I so much thank you for your support and positive words throughout all of this...I will tell my dad that he is a true fighter and with all his spirit and attitude he will do well...I've already explained to him that I have been blessed to be on CSN and talk with wonderful people like you....he doesn't do computers:).....

    Hello ellenm4,thank you so much for your prayers and support. I close my eyes at night before I go to sleep and pray for all of us on this lung cancer board.Yes, indeed, there is power and faith here, I just know it.....I will keep in touch
