Hi everyone,

Im hoping someone can help me, my name is Tara and I was diagnosed with ALL in 2004. its been 5 years since chemo but I am now experiencing an extremely "tight throat" feeling. Its so bad at times i feel like i cant breathe although i know i can. I had severe panic attachs for 1-2 years after treatment but this throat tightness will not go away!

If anyone has experienced this Id love to get some information and hope to settle the symptoms
Thanks!

Hi Tara: So happy to meet you. My daughter was just dx with All. Just October 28, 2011 this was just a tragic shock for all of us, since I am just a 2 year survivor of endometrial cancer. In 1989 my mom was sick and I had developed the same tightness in my throat, there were times that I couldn't even eat without choking. The feeling was just horrible, but I knew that it was because of the shock I suffered after hearing that my mom was sick. At one point I thought that I was having heart problems, but then I realized that it was just anxiety. I started on zanax and it really did help me. speak to your Doc and see if he would give you something for anxiety. After using this pills the feeling just went away, it can also be "fear". please write to me and let me know how you managed your treatments and how you coped. How old are you? I was trying to find people to talk to on this site, but as you noticed there is not much communication, not a steady flow. So I would really appreciate it if you would continue to write so I can get some tips from you about how to help my daughter. You are a survivor and you are probably still worrying and thinking that every twinge you feel is All. After 5 years you are cured. Please stop worrying and live life to its fullest, enjoy everyday and thank our Great God for a new day of life every day. Look back and think of the day you were first dx and see how far you have come and how much you have endured. Stop being anxious my love and enjoy life. This will soon pass. I send you a great big hug and hope I can just take that tightness away from you. I totally understand how horrible this is, but you will beat this too. Hope to hear from you soon. J

    Hi there,

Thanks for your response! I understand the anxiety issues for sure i was actually on Celexa for over a year but am now off of it, the panic attacks are gone but the throat issue still lingers...

I am 22 now,i was diagnosed at 14 which is quite old for ALL. I coped quite well and my family was great, we also had no prior cancer exposure in the family. Im actually graduating as a Registered Nurse in a few months and have worked in the hospital where I was treated so it definitely impacted me. If you would like, feel free for you or your daughter to email me at tara.sprangers@gmail.com and i can hopefully provide more detailed insight/advice for you!

All the best for you and your family!

    Hello Ghe
Iknow your brother has just been diagnosed with ALL. This must have devastated the whole family. My daughter who is 45 yeara started early summer with pain in her legs and back after many weeks she was finally diagnosed. I cried, and cried, until no more tears came. I use to leave the house and go lock up in my truct and scream my lungs out to God. But since then 50 days have passed with her in treatment and every think seems to be going alright, except she has completely changed in fromt of me, no hair lost weight and even her voice changed.Any way I am still hurting but not like I did befofe. So my dear, as time passes the human body and mind adapts to these tragic situations and helps us to see that do our best to help and support each other. How old is your brother?. I am sure is young and tell him after the initial shock all his fears will go. And God will play a great part in this whole mess for him. How is mom and dad. After you manage to pass the initial phase you will start feeling better. Right now It seems like a dream.
