Hi Miss Maggie,
I'm telling it just never ends, I decided to come to the hospital today and they told me I had pneumonia. I'm glad that I came at least I'm getting antibiotics and getting admitted. I'll keep you guys posted, and please take care of yourself.
Sincerely,
Liz
Hi Liz
Wow, I am so sorry to hear that you are in the hospital. But, I am glad that you are finaly getting the proper treatment.
I sure hope that the antibiotics kick in fast and that you will be feeling so so much better very soon.
It will take a while to get back to your baseline of energy. Don't try to rush it, even if you are starting to feel better. Take your time..
I have had pneumonia a few times and it really knocks the wind out of your sails.
Rest Rest Rest and plenty of fluids.
I am sending you positive healing thoughts and prayers for a quick end to this infection.

Dear Sweet Liz,
I never expected your DX of pneumonia. I do know bronchitis can go into pneumonia. Did you get your flu shot in 2011?
What a lesson for all of us. Since my DX in Sept 2009, I no longer neglect myself. I keep
up with the tests I should have. Also, when I feel ill, I do go to the doctor. Yes, I have
become a hypercondriac.
Do you have someone watching your 3 year baby?
Please get better, and post when you come home. Keep us up to date. I worry about you.
Love Maggie PS I had pneumonia in 1998. I didn't have the flu shot. Anyway, I was in the hospital 5 days. When I got home, it took almost 2 weeks to get back to normal. Hopefully that
won't be the case with you. You have a 3 year old.0 -

Oh yes Maggie...I usually shower in the evenings, but when my hip and leg is hurting, or starting to hurt, I always switch and take a warm/hot bath instead. I also use my heating pad which brings a lot of relief. Yes...I also treasure Johns great sense of humor...he's helped all of us immensely and I certainly appreciate everything he brings to our dear group. Have a good day sweet Maggie...I have Lizzy today, so my day will automatically be good!
Love you...Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)
Hi Sue,
Do you have access to a hot tub? My gym has one and I think a lot of them do.I find it to be so soothing for a variety of aches and pains. Just a thought.
I will drag myself to the gym and force myself to workout so that I can use the hot tub!(I bribe myself - 45 minute workout or no hot tub!)
Hope you are feeling better!
Love,

Hi Donna,
I have sat in hot tubs and I agree they are very soothing and do help with eliminating aches and pains...(temporarily). I have a little "mini-spa" like machine that hangs on the side of the tub that makes the water circulate somewhat like a hot tub. My kids bought it for me a few years back. But to be honest, it really is worthless. I think it's made more for the psychological idea of a hot tub experience and not so much for the actual physical feeling of sitting in one. I don't even drag it out anymore now that I've out smarted it psychologically..ha! My heating pad is my best friend and usually soothes my achey joints. When it gets really bothersome I resort to a mild pain pill and hot bath and for now I make it through the random bad periods relatively well by using this combination. Thanks for caring Donna...this group is so good at offering little tricks to get us through our cancer journey. Take care dear lady and keep going to the gym...your "hot tub" awaits when you go!!! Love ya...Sue

Hi Sue,
Question for you? I did have a problem with my right knee before my DX in Sept 2009.
Between the knee problem and Hip problem caused by the BMB, I have a real challenge.
Anyway, I have been using ice on my knee. It helps for awhile. Do you think I should
use a heating pad instead on my knee? Does the heat for your leg help you?
Enjoy you weekend. Love you also Maggie0 -

Hi Maggie,
Yes...heat has always given me relief. My doctor told me ice should be used when swelling occurs in the joints, but if there is no swelling, heat is best. I don't have swelling in my bothersome area's. I use 2 large size heating pad which work very well. Steve connected them to a power strip that lays in a canvas book/magazine holder beside my recliner. I take one pad and position it starting under the top of my left hip and butt cheek, where it then continues down covering my left thigh....(bottom of the pad ends right in the middle of my left knee) I take the second pad and stretch it across my upper back and both shoulders. This way I can cover my two most bothersome area's at one time. Both heating pads shut off automatically after a certain period of time which is great because I'm always falling asleep in my recliner. I still have periodic hot flashes so it can get pretty hectic when one hits while having the heating pads in place. It's quite the sight to see as I throw both pads off and jump out of my chair trying to get to the front door for some cool air...ha! Heating pads and hot flashes can make for one "hot mama"!!! haha! Yes Maggie, to answer your question, I think you will find more relief by using heat rather than ice. I bought my heating pads at Walgreens(Walgreens brand) for about $20.00 each....give or take a $$ or two. Mine measure 12 inches across and 24 inches long. It can't hurt to try some heat Maggie. Let me know if you do, and how it works for you. You have a good weekend too. Much love...Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)0 -

Thank you so very much for your detailed description for your aches and pains.
I do have one heating pad that I use on my right hip. I think I will try heat on my
knee. I have nothing to lose. I will try it when I know I'm not going out. Just in case
the heat has negative results. I do have a slight swelling of my right knee.
You are so cute. Just amazing. Killing one bad person with one stone. I hate using
this saying using birds. LOL I love all animals, especially the bird population.
Thanks again for your help. Luv you Maggie0
