treating lymphedema in right leg

Hi, I'm stage 4 colon cancer with mets to lungs and many, many lymph nodes in abdomen and chest and pelvis, just found out my inguinal nodes are cancerous and my L5 vertabrae. Anyway, my right leg is swollen from groin to toes, no pain, just weird kinda numb. I make my living on my legs, mowing and weed eating, lawn maintenance stuff. I don't know if I will be able to work like I used to. I'll check with my onc monday and do my 84th chemo treatment wednesday. I'm back on irinotecan which was my choice since we've done it all and just started over from the beginning. I've been on chemo for 4 and one half years. I think I will contact Cancer Treatment Centers of America Monday and see what they think about what's left that might work. The cancer has sort of changed gears on me, spreading to more places, I guess a second opinion would not hurt, what do I have to lose right. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks, and God Bless everyone. We can not give up. Randy

    Randy,
Have you tried an NCI Cancer Center? I know I am looking at both USC and UCSD.

Unlike CTA they do research trials and you may qualify for one.

You should probably get the lymphedema treated ASAP. Mine has spread into my groin, making things like walking almost impossible.

Best I can do at the moment, as I have not solved my own lymphedema problem...

    Yours,

    Blake

    Massage therapy?
I have a friend dealing with lymphedema and she has been seeing a massage therapist who specializes in this condition. She's says it's improved quite a bit since starting this treatment. You've clearly been in this battle for a long time and must be incredibly tough to still be working through everything. I hope you can find something that will keep you on your feet. Hugs-Ann

    Massage Therapists
There are massage Therapists trained to do manual lymphatic drainage....I had it done...it feels great and it works...they also make compression sleeves to wear that help. Best wishes, teri
