Throat abscess

So the day after Christmas I ended up in the ER, at first they thought I had pneomia but after a CT scan and some poking around they found a abscess in the area where my left tonsil used to be. So this explains the horable smell that has been coming out of me the last month and also not being able to swallow. Two days on antibiotics and the smell was gone, four days now and I have been able to swallow a little. Anyway have an appointment with a different ENT doc on Tuesday to see what they want to do. I hope it all works out I want to eat so bad it's not funney. Living on Jevity is not living, I miss food so bad. Christmas was torture all the good food and not being able to swallow anything. Anyway thanks.

    Maybe you should send the doctor who was ignoring you a thank you note. Just kidding. Sounds like you are finally on the right course. Why did you get an abscess there?

    Throat bumps
    Hi Brad--

    Id like to hear a follow-up to your story about throat abscesses. My Granny finished radiation early in December and had her 1 month check-up the day before Christmas eve, but now she has two big abscesses in her throat that are driving her bonkers. "Jevity" is also a "bad word" at our house, she is looking forward to eating again.

    What did your doctor say? Are you feeling better yet? Let us know how you're doing!

    Glad you finally know what you're dealing with. We all know what must've been going through your head. Sorry you and yours had to wait til now to find out. Hoping you're bragging about soup and smoothies soon.

    I sure hope you catch a break, soon. I hope that infection clears up, and you can start eating some food soon. That is so frustrating. Prayers for a better 2012!

    Did the abscess feel like a lump there was a lump in your throat? Also, so glad your able to swallow a little now :)

    Not really like a lump but like a big snot ball stuck in my throat, I want to eat so bad now I hope it helps. My appatite has never been so strong since I started this living hell. My wife had been on me for quit some time because of my terreble breath that somthing was not wright, I really should listen to her more often. The last ENT doctor would not even look at me I hope this guy at least gives a crap, this morning my neck was so stiff and with this absecess it was really uncomfertable. Need to take my wife out to dinner tonight since it is her birthday, but I cannot eat anything and just sitting there watching her and my boys eating is going to be hard. Anyway wish me luck this week and I will keep everyone informed.
