One test turned into 3--now I'm really scared
The tech said this could represent cancer but also could represent injury--such as a fracture. However, I think I would remember fracturing my back. A best friend who does these scans for a living tried to console me saying that she sees a lot of scans with increased uptake on people who've been through chemo and rads--the bones are just so much weaker and it doesn't take much to cause a fracture. I'm trying to cling onto those words.
Anyway, because all of this took so long and the radiologist was covering 2 departments, he was gone by the time I was leaving so I did not speak with him.
Now I am on pins and needles waiting for "the call."
Thanks for listening.
Hugs, Renee

Scared Skinny...
Don't blame you one bit, Renee. I hope that call comes soon, to relieve the anxiety of waiting. And, most importantly, that it'll relay benign results.
In the meantime, I'll hang on to the words of your experienced friend. A fracture sounds really unpleasant, to say the least. But, that's what I'll HOPE for...
Kind regards, Susan0 -
Uptakes
Dear Renee,
Your friend the tech is absolutely correct in the many things that uptakes could be instead of cancer. Let us hope that this is a fracture. They are very, very painful. Once we have been radiated minor fractures can happen without us being aware that we have done something. It can be a week or so before we feel the pain and bone pain is horrid.
I have had some uptakes in bone scans that proved false and some that were real. I won't do bone scans anymore as I want to know what it is with one test. They did good by you doing all those test in one day.
There is nothing worse than waiting. They should have the results for you today unless your facility is very, very large which can take time for the radiologist to dictate, for transcription to be done and for the report to end up in Medical Records or your doctors office. I would call this afternoon if you don't hear from them.
Wishing you the best,
Doris0 -

at a loss for words, Miss Renee. Yes, I believe that evaluation and dictation can be the cause of this wait. Like Miss Doris stated .. call, and then call again. UGH .. hate the waiting ----!!!
prayers for encouragement, strength and positive news.

you're scared. Who wouldn't be?
I'm waiting, too. I was sorta cleaning out my office today. Does this mean I can stop working and sit with all my pink sisters?
Let us know. Like Nancy always says, we care.

Hi Renee -- We all know
Hi Renee -- We all know "waiting" is the worst feeling...UGH...the unknown adds fear. But I'm staying positive for you. Good news ONLY. You'll be added to my prayer's list. Please try to enjoy the remaining of the year - hard, we know - but you can do it! We're here with you and for you. Hugs0 -
Miss Renee
I am sure you are scared, but not all the areas that are lit up are always cancer. We will cling to that until told otherwise. I will be waiting patiently with you while you get your results, and will shoot up a couple of prayers that all his testing was done to rule out anything that we wouldn't want it to be!
On a little further though, I wouldn't mind the scared skinny as long as the result is good!! Although, I just ate a cream puff, so that wont happen with me anytime soon! I pass the best bakery in town on the way home from chemo so....
Hugs, prayers, and positive thoughts while you wait!

With you....can you feel us surrounding you with positive thoughts? Waiting, for me, at times, causes temporary insanity! A little humor there....
What helps me during these stressful waits is this....I keep telling myself..." I am NOT their only patient....". This really does help me...
Keep us posted...and sending prayers for good results....we care

Waiting waiting
I had a broken lumbar vertebrea once and never knew it till nine months later when I had another muscular back injury. So you can indeed break a vertebrea and not know it. So it does not have to be cancer.0 -

its always that way one stinking test leads to another. The ladies are right, its very possible to be fine. bone scans pick up arthritis too. they mentioned something to me once that Ihad forgotten to tell them about because it was something Ihad off and on.0 -
sorry to hear the waiting
