CA125 nadir after successful recurrence treatment compared with that at the conclusion of the succes

Those of you who have recurred and then went into remission, was your CA125 at the end of the successful recurrence treatment lower, higher, or about the same as it was when you first went into remission?

More broadly, if you had multiple remissions, do the CA125 nadir value after each successful treatment vary?

    I don't know if you saw my last post: I was booted off of a trial because they decided that my disease progressed while on treatment. I sort of proved them wrong, and actually the treatment was working very well. But,can't go back on the trial any way.

    I switched to Gemzar/Avastin after I was off the trial. This Friday I am starting a third cycle. After the first cycle of this new treatment, CA125 dropped very nicely. This week,another CA125 will tell me whether that continues as a trend....

    I have started this thread to see whether there is a pattern for "repeat offenders" :-) with regard to CA125 nadir at each starting point of remissions.....

    Yes, I did read your last thread about getting the boot. Your rationale makes sense and it does take the body time to get rid of the dead tissue. I think you know your body very well.

    I'm happy that you are getting good response from this treatment and anxious to hear more good news from you!!

    CA 125 results during second round of chemo
    I had my 4th infusion of carbo/taxol on December 19th following a recurrence in para-aortic and supra-clavicular lymph nodes a year after initial treatment. CA 125 returned to 8 after first round of chemo and rose to 41 before the second round of chemo. It was 21 after first infusion, 9 after 2nd and has stayed at 9. My oncology 'team' did not thunk CA125 was a marker for me but a CT scan at the beginning of December, after 3 infusions, showed that the supra-clavicular node and one of the para-aortic ones were no longer enlarged while the 2nd para-aortic node had shrunk from 13 MM to 7 MM. It seems obvious that the CA 125 pretty well echoes the situation. Two more infusions to go and then we will reassess - but I am very optimistic.

    My ca125 was single digits (8-9) following initial treatment with carbo/taxol. Then twice was down to 12-14 following second line treatments, NED per clean PET/CTs with each. Perhaps if I had continued treatment 'til single digits, it might have stayed there. I'll never know. It was only in 90s prior to debulking surgery (Stage IVB) but has shot up to 600s and even over 1000 with recurrences, which I find quite interesting as all recurrences have only been demonstrated in lymph nodes.
