    Carla,
Happy holidays to you! I haven't seen his book, but I took a look at his website. 98% of the foods he lists are great, as long as they are organic or meats raised in a healthy manner. There are a few things, however, that go against what I have learned about food.

Thanks for your response. What goes against what you have learned? I am in remission and want to do everything within my power to remain there!! :)

    LIFELONG LEARNING!
I admire your drive to do all you can in this fight, and I'm right there with you! I'm not familiar with the book but will check it out when I can. My husband and I have always tried to be 'nutritionally savvy', but quite frankly it's a lifelong process. There's always new research, new findings, etc. etc. And sometimes we find out that formerly-embraced tried-and-true info is suddenly not valid anymore. I guess that's progress.

Even though nothing is 100%, there is much we can do to increase our chance of no-recurrance. And maybe someday, never getting cancer in the first place.

    Luv, Hugs and Prayers,
    Monika

There is the issue of sugar (or you could look at it as the glycemic index(GI) of certain foods). Bananas and grapes have a high GI. Also, everything he lists under natural sweeteners has a high GI. Raw agave nectar is a good option, while you are growing accustomed to less sweetness. Stevia is a better option, but doesn't taste like the sugar we are used to. There are those who believe there is a link between gluten and cancer. If you want to cut out gluten, then a number of the grains listed caould be problematic, as well as the soy sauce (why they put wheat in soy sauce, I will never know). Dairy products, unless raw (raw milk) are also suspect. I've been reading a lot about food lately, and it appears the whole low-fat path may have been erroneous. Decades ago, it was recognized that the Western diet lead to increase disease. It was assumed that it was due to the fat in the diet. Now they are realizing that carbs are the issue.

Personally, I think there are better resources out there for an anti-cancer diet. "The Cancer Fighting Kitchen Cookbook" and "Anti-Cancer," but you may already have looked into those. I am adopting the Paleo Diet ("Paleo Comfort Foods: Homestyle Cooking for a Gluten-Free Kitchen by Julie Sullivan Mayfield is one resource). I have found I feel a lot better when I don't eat grains. My naturopath has adopted this diet and says her CA-125 has never been lower.

    Hope this helps.
