Hanging in there
Thanks to you folks for asking about me :-) I should post more often.
I'm at my sister's place in PA with the dog and have been for a week or so. I'll probably be here through most of the Holidays.
I had a setback starting last last week and my belly got swollen and by Thursday I was hurling like Linda Blair in the Exorcist. They had scanned me Tuesday after my chemo appointment, since I thought I had an obstruction. They said I didn't but it sure felt like it. Friday I went to the Penn ER and was fast-tracked and stayed for two nights. They gave me a version of the colonoscopy flush and monitored me. I'm feeling better now. the consensus was I had hard stools in my abdomen, or a stomach bug.
I missed out on out huge family party on Saturday, which sucked. My other sister and her family flew in from the midwest for it. It's kind of a weird situation I don't know how to feel about. They are quite well-off and have put a bid in for a ground floor condo foreclosure a few miles from my mom's and girlfriend's places "as an investment" and to "have a place near mom for her to stay at when she visits" The plain truth is that it's for me so I am not two plus hours away at the beach. I feel a weird mix of gratitude, love and, well, anger about it. I may have to give up my dog at some point though since like at mosty condos, they are verboten. A few family members have offered to take him.
Sooo... I'm still here plugging away. Skinnier, weaker and more tired than I ever thought possible, but enjoying the good days as best I can surrounded by a great family and with the support of my wonderful girlfriend.
Love and Strength to you all!
Ray

Update
Thanks for the update, but sorry to hear that you were back in the hospital. Glad that part is resolved though. Hope you continue to get your strength back.

Hey Ray,
Thanks for checking in!
You would not know it, but you inspired me to do the disability/retirement thing and, by bringing it up, allowed me to keep my Life Insurance (and get a small payout). Had you not posted your experience I might have missed it (my HR person had no idea that this was an included benefit).
Thanks again!

You and I started
Hey Ray,
You and I started around the same time. Everyday is a new start and a new day.
Glad to hear you are feeling better. I also had to give up my dog, which hurt, but I am in a condo now and not able to look after an animal, specially in the winter with snow and cold.
I wish you a merry christmas with friend and family.
