Ambien + Hydromorphone ???

I was not able to talk to the doc when the Hydro was Rx'd, so I thought I'd ask here and double-check come Monday.
Would it be ok for mom to take her Hydromorphone 4mg along with her 10mg Ambien at bedtime? I wasn't sure, so I only gave her Ambien last night. I got up at 2 a.m. and she's sleeping soundly. It's now 3:30 a.m. and there's no coughing coming. As a matter of fact, since Friday, she hasn't had a single drop of cough meds. Her cough is much improved.
Now if only I can get her radiated skin to heal! She burned and blistered badly. Now she's at the peeling stage. I apply Hydrocortisone 1% cream multiple times a day. I wipe the skin with a cool cloth then apply the cream. She said she no longer feels pain in the area. This is why rads were stopped last week - severe burn.

Not sure but here's what happened to me
Not sure about your Mom Ginny but let me tell you what happened to me. After surgery, I was on Roxicodone 5ml liquid every 4 hours. I was also on Ativan at bedtime. I would often take them together as they helped me sleep. I was telling the nurse this one day and she got very concerned. I wasn't supposed to take them together because they both depress the respiratory system. I immediately told her I would start staggering them. She laughed and said if I was going to have a problem, we'd already know. Live and learn...
Glad to hear your Mom's cough is getting better!
Take care both of you! -

Also on the Superthread is info about Rads burns. Radiaplex is another very helpful option. You should be able to get some samples from the Rad Onc.
Also, Jerry posted an easy link to the Superthread. Hope this helps you and mom.

Thank you both! I'm surprised the Rads folks didn't Rx anything other than OTC Hydrocortizone 1%. Well, whatever... it's improving. I wiped and applied cream multiple times a day. Now, it's so much better, I apply 2x a day. She said it no longer hurts. Looks nasty though, but not oozing like when I first saw her after my return.
She is no longer talking in a whisper. She is using her voice, but it is very raspy - like a smoker!
