    "Although promising results in mice often don’t translate to humans, Boons claimed he is confident that vaccines that target the specific carbohydrate signatures of cancer cells will ultimately play an important role in the treatment of the disease.

    "We are beginning to have therapies that can teach our immune system to fight what is uniquely found in cancer cells,” Boons said. "When combined with early diagnosis, the hope is that one day cancer will become a manageable disease,” Boons added."

    thanks for making it readable. i am at mayoclinic arizona today for my chemo. i asked the NP about this new research in conjunction with univ of georgia. she said, she heard about it recently as its the new buzz at the clinic. and soon publications might be out. Not sure whether this is out of the lab now or not. Will find out more in 3 weeks and will post update to this.

    I read about this earlier today- a friend sent me the link. It's very exciting, really! It doesn't sound, however, like it's available at this time yet. I'm looking for something that can help me now! I read from another link about another exciting thing out there too, but it won't start studies on humans until 2013. Great, but doesn't help me now. It's frustrating that everything takes so long!
