in Kidney Cancer #1
Just became aware that kidney cancer is a qualifier for social security disability. Worth looking into. Maybe others here who can benefit. Hope this is helpful.

    I hope not
    Social Security Disability requires being disabled from employment on a permanent basis. For most of us we do not want to be in that catagory. What may have been brought up is Medicare where persons on dialysis can qualify before they are 65. Related to Kidneys, yes: to Kidney Cancer, no.

    True but, if you are unable to work because you are healing from surgery or being treated with a drug therapy would that not be a qualifier? I applied last week for SS.I was told that I do not qualify for SSI as I do draw a military pension. Go figure...now serving your country your entire adult life excludes you from help from OUR government! Anyhow I met with my onocoligist for my post surgery Pet Scan follow up yesterday. I thought the battle was pretty much won when my kidney was removed. I feel the best I have felt in years!!! But now am faced again with a very life changeing decission to make.....What DRUG therapy to persue?????? The simple fact of the matter is I do feel what EVER decission I make,I willNEVER feel as well as I do now! I do realize non of us has a experation date stamped on the bottom of our feet. But when I asked if I would survive 15 years ..... the doc just shook his head....6 to 8 with therapy...2 maybe if I do nothing......Interlukin 2 is my choice in 30ish days......This alone can do you in...Was told 16 doses in a 1 week treatment but most have to be taken off after 10-11 doses due to sunificant health risks!
    Heart attack good possability!!!! I feel so not in control of my life any more....I was planning on being around another 25 years....

    Social Security Disability is there if we need it and some members of the club do need it and will need it. Hopefully most of us will not need it. To those that do, go for it.
