Help! Does this sound like a sarcoma, or...?

I'm a 59 year old female, and about 8 months ago I noticed a painless, hard and immobile lump on my inner thigh, about 15 cm above the knee. My GP said it was likely a lipoma, and nothing to be concerned about. I feel fine and am in good health otherwise, but I still kept thinking about it, and last month went for a second opinion.

The second doctor ordered X-rays, ultrasound and an MRI, which revealed that it is not a lipoma. It's about 7 X 3 X 2 cm, is firmly attached to the thigh muscle, and has blood vessels through it. I have not noticed any increase in size from when I first discovered it.

It's another 4 weeks before I'll have it removed and biopsied, and this waiting period is the worst part. If it is a sarcoma, I want to arm myself with as much knowledge as possible, but I also don't want to read too much since I don't know what it is yet.

Could anyone tell me if this sounds like a sarcoma, or if it's not a sarcoma - and is not a lipoma - what it could be?

By now you likely have the answer.  It sounds like a sarcoma to me.  I hope that you had a great surgery and did not need any other therapy other than radiation therapy post operatively.
