Hey Michelle!
Good to hear from you and thanks for the update. Good thing you went for that colonoscopy! Yes..thats where most of it starts..... from those pollops. So glad you got that taken care of and sounds like you will be fine.
I know it has been so hard for you with the loss of Angel. I am glad the grandkids help fill those gaps and make life happy for you. Thanks for staying with us...we all love you soooo much!
Take care

Michelle:)
Hi Michelle
Yours was one of the 1st stories I remember as it had just happened right before I joined the group. You've done amazingly well, although I know there have been plenty of tough moments for you. But, you've held yourself together and taken each step with grace and dignity.
I can't speak for Angel, but from what I know of him, through you, I can only say that he would be just be so proud of you carrying on. I'm glad you've got the kiddos around to help you.
While things can never be the same, I hope for good health and many good things for your future. You're 3 years up on me, but with your health, you've got along was still to go, darlin'...and you know that:)
We'll hope that the polyps are non-cancerous...I feel pretty good about that one, but glad you got it done. Nothing wrong with getting scopes yearly. I do them every year when I can....I get one the third week of Dec. and expect good results.
Take care and nice to see you! I'm glad that you still come by and see us. You've always been so kind:)

Michelle,
It is always so good to hear from you. I hope and pray that nothing comes from those polyps. I am so glad to hear that your brother is still here and the meds are working. I hope your holidays with your grandkids are filled with love.
Aloha,

Hey Michelle -- Of course I still remember Angel fondly -- and you too! Glad to hear the good news about your brother. My understanding is that every colorectal cancer starts out its life as a polyp -- but certainly not all polyps turn into cancer. You are doing the right thing. Glad they found and removed those polyps and it sounds like you are in an excellent schedule for re-checking in a year. Please keep us posted. And thanks for staying in good touch. Sending lots of love to you

hi, Michelle
The first sign for me was rectal bleeding (rectal cancer stage I, T2 tumor. transanal excision followed by radiation and oral chemo). I was 49 at the time and due for my 1st colonoscopy. My doctor also found polyps. I had my 2nd colonoscopy 1 year after surgery and a few polyps were found. Everything ok and next colonoscopy to be done 2 years after that. (I don't know why some do after 1 year and some 2)
My boyfriend had polyps removed during his first colonoscopy, one of which was cancerous but encapsulated and only needed to be checked frequently, with another colonoscopy 3 months later, then 1 year later, then 3 years, now not another for 5 years.
I don't want to say I'm glad your doctor found polyps only but I'm happy nothing else was found. Good luck with your results. And I think it's good you're getting checked again in a year.
I've read a lot of your posts and I am sorry again about the loss of your Angel. I know you miss him terribly. I am glad you have your Grandchildren.

Colonoscopy
Glad that you had that done. Was this your first one? Yes, most colorectal cancer starts with a polyp. So good to hear that your brother is doing better. Glad that you are remaining on the board. It's always good to see your posts

No matter what, assuming the polyps are benign, it was good to see your doctor was talking about a follow up in one year. I think this is of utmost importance.
I had what was a routine colonoscopy in August 2008. Previous scopes had been negative and I had no family risk factors of which I was aware. I had 11 tubular adenomas. I was told to come back in three years for a follow-up colonoscopy. In April, several months ahead of my scheduled follow up and feeling fine, I became anxious. Because of my anxiety and obsession I asked for an earlier follow up. The response: " sure Norm, anxiety is a good enough reason to do your colonoscopy sooner". I fully expected that I was going to get a pat on the head and a prescription for Prozac after it was done. Instead, when I woke up the gastroenterologist was there and he said those words: "you have cancer".
The rest of the story is that I have IIIB colon cancer and am near finishing my ninth round of XELOX. I know in retrospect as many people have told me that there are many "what if" questions and "should have" or "would have" statements about my course. I see myself as being where I am and still with a chance for cure . Many of my friends with cancer and people on this board and possibly myself will have the sword of Damocles over our heads for a long time. My remaining concern is testing for genetic causes that could be inherited or passed on to our children. I'll address that elsewhere.
Anyway, hopefully all is well on your biopsies, and then just be sure to get a scan in one year.

Dear Michelle
Glad that you got your scope done and the polyps were found and removed. Praying for no cancer found when you get the results.
I suspect that many folks live their lives with polyps and just never have the scope done or have problems.
Having an annual colonoscopy is a good thing (except for the prep) just to make sure that the polys don't return. Who knows, once the next one is clear maybe they will move you to every 2 years.
I know you must miss Angel terribly, but keep the good thoughts of him front and center. He would want to see your smile, not your tears.
Try not to spoil those grandkids too much...said one grandmother to the other...lol.
Hugs,
Marie who loves kitties0
