stage2
Yes, I did have my middle lope removed. The size made it a T1 because it was small. They tested 4 lymph nodes around the lobe. Three were benign and one had an agreesive cancer cell so they staged at N1...so T1 and N1 = stage 2. I started my first treatment of 4 month treatments with Cisplatin/navelbine. My kidneys took a hit. So yesterday I started on Carboplatin/taxol. So I have 2 more treatments. I am not getting any radiation.0 -

Hope you are responding well....
to this new chemo gayletaps. Great news about no radiation though. Sorry you are going thru this experience with this dreaded monster but you have come to a very gracious support board. I would like to welcome you and feel free to ask questions, rant or just share good news. There is also have a chat room is you would like to get into some discussions. How long ago was your surgery? Did you have a full thoracotomy or the VATS procedure? Don't forget to keep doing breathing exercises and moving about as much as possible. Hope you are feeling stronger everyday. Know you are not alone in this battle. We are here to support each other. Stay positive and keep up the good fight! Healing prayers to you! Cheryl0 -

I just got up and started the breathing excercise. I can't seem to get past 2,000 and don't know if that is good or not.0 -

HI, My name is Joe. I would like to welcome you to this club no one wants to belong to. I am stage 1b, lymph nodes were negative. But it was touching my pleural sack so i went from 1a to 1b. I had left upper lobectomy this past jan. I then had 4 mos of cisplatin and vinorelbine (navalbine). I made all 16 weeks barely, but I finished beginning of June. Ive gotten stronger but realize I will never be 100%. I still use my breathing spirometer on ocassion and can get it to 2750+, it just takes time and practice. I am looking forward to further posts from to see how you are doing. Oct 1st I had a clean pet scan so surgery and chemo seemed to have done their jobs. Next is a ct scan at the end of this month.0 -
New normals...gayletaps said:Thanks for the reminder

You will have some "new normals" to get used to. Everyone is different also so what is normal for me might not be normal for you. Before lobectomy, I could get total movement on my spirometer....now I can only get 2300 out of 2500. I complained to surgeon just last week about it. He said I am getting 100% saturation of oxygen in blood and it doesn't get any better than that, so that is my new normal. I will continue to exercise normally so I don't lose anything else. It took me a few months after surgery to get to 2300 steady, so keep on keeping on. I still try and push myself to do more. As long as you are getting good saturation of oxygen in your blood.....it's good......real good. Stay strong and positive. Cheryl0 -

Thanks for the information. I will continue to try to move up the spirometer.0
