Hi all,
Quick question, mum is really poorly , she has just finished her last dose of steroids and has mow started on Topotecan, her third chemo drug, it has hit her like a sledge hammer, she is bed bound and vomiting.
My question is can you keep taking steroids ? or do you have to have breaks from them?
When mum had doxil her second lot of chemo it also hit her hard and she had steroids , she then went on to sail through the rest of the treatment.
Mum is also getting ascites , it has never stopped except when she was on carbo/taxol.I think this is why she is getting pain from the draining every few weeks, she is having morphine patches for that. At the moment it seems it not just raining it is pouring , ggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

nausea
I just started on taxol and carboplatin for ovarian cancer. I started taking 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger 3 days before I started chemo. I now take ginger every day along with zofran or compazine, which I take regularly whether or not I have nausea and although I have only had one cycle of taxol and carboplatin and one neulasta shot, I have not had one minute of nausea and I believe it is the ginger. Candied or raw ginger is too strong for your stomach, especially with chemo and the ground one with a small glass of water is easy to take and harmless.
Hope this helps.
