14 years old??

The reason I am here today is I just found out a friend of mine's daughter is being treated with chemo for ovarian cancer! I didn't even know a child of this age can get this cancer. I have an 11 year old daughter who just started her period and it scares me to even think about this. Is this common?

I have a friend who works at
I have a friend who works at St. Jude's Hospital in Memphis, TN. She said they have had 2 or 3 teenagers with ovarian cancer this year. There is one lady on here whose 5 yr. old daughter is being treated for it. Unreal! Fortunately, I think it is rare. Will be praying for your friend's daughter. -

When I got diagnosed I read
When I got diagnosed I read most studies I could get a hold of. This cancer does not necesarily have an age group. From what I understood if you had an ovary and were of child bearing years you were more at risk for it. Though there were some really young children that had it.
I have a niece who has been spotting abnormally for months and has some pelvic pain. I keep telling her to go to the doctor. She has not gone...even with my diagnosis. I pray it is nothing. -

It is not common, but it can happen. Read an article that a 5 yr old was dx with stage 2 ovarian cancer. Make sure you daughter knows the signs and symptoms -
