My Dennis
I have become friends with our home health nurse so she was aware that he had appt today. She called this morning to tell me what the nurses used to do when patients had this sort of problem. She said it was "an old nurses trick" to make a cup of tea and put 1 tsp of cream of tarter in it for patients with this issue. I wanted him to have every chance to be able to go so I made the special tea before his appt., he drank it and then left for appt. The urologist removed the catheter, gave him instructions to use strait catheter and said "we will watch it, you might need prostate surgery" (not what he wanted to hear) . We had supper, I went to do some computer work and before I knew it he was standing next to me with a big smile as he said "guess what I did"? I peed all by myself and it was a lot too! We celebrated and he went off to share the good news with his son. lol
Tomorrow is a ct scan to make sure all is still okay since rfa, if it is then we schedule appt to block off blood flow to right side of liver preparing for resection. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers that all goes well. Prayers for you and yours...

thanks! It is a relief to have him going and he is thrilled about it. We were just watching foot ball when he turned to me and said I have peed 3 times tonight.
Kidney functions are good, no reason to suspect anything other than swelling after surgery. They did a bladder study and some other tests today that were all good.
He is going with out any troubles which is what his surgeon expected.
I have no reason to suspect anything bad with scan but will be happy to hear that it's all good. Oh what a Thanksgiving it will be...0 -

Its funny what becomes a Big Deal when dealing with stuff like this. I remember that when I was in the hospital for my colon resection that part of the deal to get out was that I had to have a BM and to pass gas. NEVER in my 54 years have I been asked to pass gas. I've been asked to NOT pass gas plenty of times.
I hope your husband's CT scan went well. I have my first one on Wednesday since I had my RFA in October on my right lung. It is an easy procedure as far as the lungs go. I was able to go home the same day 3 out of 4 times. I'm very curious about your husband's liver RFA. I hope it goes very smoothly and that his stay is a short one. I'm sure you'll keep us posted.
You'll both be in my thoughts...

Great tip, too. Talk about one step at a time. Hoping for the best with the treatment plan.0 -
