pain/numbness

ive been having pain and numbness in my left leg from my thigh down to my calf. they did an ultrasound and a bone scan to rule out clots and bone mets. has anyone had this problem and figured out what it is? my onc has no idea why this is happening.

    Need more info
    What cancer do you have?
    What surgeries?
Are you on chemo? If so then what type?
Do you have it when you wake up or just after sitting for a while?

i have colon cancer. i have only had one surgery and that was to repair my sigmoid colon after a horrible fissure from chemo. im currently on xeloda and avastin. before that i was on folfiri and avastin. i have the numbness all the time but the pain increases/decreases depending on what position im in. i also have an increase in pain after my daily work out session.

ps my oncologist said she didn't believe it was neuropathy

    A possibility
I have had troubles with my right leg off and on for most of my life with pain and or numbness. I have self-diagnosed as having possibly sciatica--a pinched nerve--which caused both pain and numbness. Then several years later I think I gave myself bursitis--inflammation of the bursis(sp?) sack of my hip joint--from sitting improperly on a hard chair at my computer. No numbness with that but a lot of pain sitting, walking and standing but not much when lying down. Both are gone now but had troubles for years with both of them. Anyhow, it could be unrelated to both your cancer and your treatment.

    Pain
If you are having buttocks pain too, I would bet on piriformis syndrome.

    Hi Erin
Thanks for providing more info. I would rule out neuropathy too since only your left leg is affected. Usually both legs would be hit by that. It sound like something is pinched (no kidding?) but that's hardly any help. I kind of had an opposite thing happen. I had pretty bad back pain for years that mostly went away after cancer surgeries. Probably because my mind is on other achey parts...
I hope some of the other suggestions help you.

    Gee, Kimo Sabe
why didn't you tell me about this 35 years ago!! Here is a link that I found while looking up what that syndrome is:

The article has exercises you can do to help relieve the problem.
