Welcome. I know with me
Welcome. I know with me each time my counts finally started to go up they usually climbed pretty quickly. Being stuck in the hospital is not fun and I am sure you can't wait to get out.
Once you get out follow all the precautions they give you to keep safe from infections. Hand sanitizer, soap and disinfecting wipes are your new best friends and will be for a while. I was lucky that friends and family went through my house and gave it a through cleaning and then kept up with toilets and such for me while I was ill. I was really careful and kept masks and gloves handy too.0 -

Hi...The waiting is the hard
Hi...The waiting is the hard part. I was diagnosed with APL earlier this year and have been in and out of the hospital since then. I am now getting ATRA and Arsenic daily but they are putting me back in the hospital again over Thanksgiving. I just cling to the knowledge that APL is indeed the best type of cancer to have if we are going to have cancer, and that will be cured. There are many others that are worse off than we are, which is sad, but I am a single mom with 3 kids, and I have to lean on the statistics that say we will beat this! Good luck to you!0 -

To all the APL patients if you dont have a Facebook account get one. There is two social groups and it consists of all APL patients there are approximately 162 worldwide. Just post a question and you will definetly get a response. Excuse my penmensionship its sloppy. Well there is an APL patient who has been a 19yr survivor out of Beumont Texas and two women from Texas also both 12yr survivors. All patients have gotten different treatments but they've all survived it. If you get Facebook in the search bar type in Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia and there you will find the group.0 -

My husband was 33 when he was diagnosed with APL. He went thru extensive chemo treatments in the hospital. Then he took chemo meds at home for a year and a half. He has been in remission since May 2008. His oncologist told me, if you have to have leukemia that APL is that kind you wanna have. The chances of getting in remission is like 95%. I wish you all the best! Cancer is a monster and affects so many of us, but stay strong..you can win the battle!0 -
