There's a lump in my arm
My name is Jen and I'm writing at the suggestion of my uncle Cobra666 (I call him Guy). Earlier this week I found a small lump at the top of my right arm and I'm trying to not worry too much about it because it could be anything or nothing at all. Cancer is something that is a possibility because my uncle is not the only one who's had cancer in our family. There's also been my grandfather, and my mom had pre-cancer cells of the uterus ( my uncles dad and sister). I hate cancer. It's one of the few things I'm scared of. I eat right, I workout and take good care of myself, and yet I'm not immune from cancer. No one is. I made an appointment for not this week but the following. I don't know how often I'll write here because I have a website and a blog and I have a hard time keeping up with that My site is www.fitnutforlife.com and you'll see where I attempted to blog, but it's sporadic. I'll try to write once in a while. After talking to my uncle today, I feel better because no matter what, I have been given the best family and I come from a long line of some Strong **** people and I am TRULY Grateful, Thankful and Blessed. Goodnight Everyone. I Love You Guy!!

Welcome...
Hi Jen,
I went to your web site...holy smokes girl you are sooooo fit! After looking at your fitness video I felt guilty for not at least doing a few sit-ups each day..ha! Anyways...about your small lump. I'm sure John has told you everything you need to do to get this checked out. I'm glad you've made the doctors appointment. Just take it one day at a time until the appropriate tests get done. You have such a great energetic spirit which will get you through anything thats thrown your way. With that being said...lumps on the body should never ever be ignored. I had a groin lump show up and for 6 months didn't think in a million years it was cancer.."wrong"..it was! Come back and let us know what you find out. Take care sweetie and post when you feel like it...someone is always hanging out to listen. Best wishes..Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)0 -

I had a Drs. appt yesterday at the cancer center and I mentioned you to him. He said please have it checked out.Lumps anywhere on the body need to be identified. I told him you had an appt soon.Sue and Jim are like our "Welcome Wagon committee" and their input is greatly appreciated. They really care about each and every person and are always on hand to help.I am ALWAYS here for you. Guy0 -

Hey Jen,
Hang in there..I remember how crazy my mind was before all my testing was finished. I was all over the map!!! Your Uncle was the first person to respond to me when I joined CSN. It was such a relief to have someone tell me I wasn't going to keel over and die!..ha! But seriously...I really was scared witless and had it not been for John and others here, I surely would have lost my mind...(the jurys still out on that)..ha! My prayers are with you sweetie and I'm thinking good positive thoughts that the lump is nothing. Work out and keep busy to pass the time. Love..Sue..(FNHL-2-3a-6/10)0 -

Hi my Libra friend,
Just wanted to say "hi" and let you know you are always in my thoughts. Hope things are going better for you and your able to rest and relax while enjoying your beautiful garden. This time last year you were talking me through some crazy late late night prednisone panic attacks...(in case I forgot to say it then..."Thanks") Lordy I was such a mess! Keep in touch dear lady. Love you...Sue (FNHL-2-3a-6/10)0 -

Hi Jen, as I always say better safe then sorry, go get that checked! it is probably nothing to worry about, but its better to act quickly and rule anything out... take care Vinny
See,there are some caring and concerned people out there that are with you. These were the same people that were with me a year ago.Jim is fairly new to the site, but he's right there for us all.You will be fine. So many people just pass a lump off and never have it checked.Just keep that positive outlook. You have taken the first step by having it checked out. Most likely it is nothing. Guy0 -

Lisha,
How you been? I know you are feeling tired a lot and rest is so important. It is important to us all.I read Sues post to you and remember it so well. I would read the post late at night and say to myself, "Dang, don't these guys ever sleep?" Then I would think,What am I doing up reading the post myself? HAHA. Anyway we all think of you and only hope the best. Just wondering if there are any updates. If there is and you feel up to it fill us in. Thats what we are here for you know. John(FNHL-4a-1-5/10)0 -

Well my appointment is next week, but yesterday I was talking to someone who said it feels like a lipoma, a fatty cyst. The guy ended up being a doctor. He told me to get it checked and if it wasn't gone by time I go to the doctors to insist on a biopsy ( just like you told me to do Guy) He gave me his card and said he'd be interested to hear what comes of it, if he is in fact correct. I told him that was cool and gave him my card and then he had questions for me.. "How do I do this? I want to be able to do that, where would I start?" It was pretty cool that he was asking for advise and pointers on fitness and nutrition from ME
Well, I have a 9 year old who woke up on the wrong side of the bed that I have to get to school, so... Have a great day everyone!
Oh! one more thing... I am truly Thankful, Grateful and Blessed! Regardless of the outcome of this or anything else0 -

Hi Jen,
Sounds like your getting good advice from all directions. I'm going to keep thinking positive thoughts that your lump is probably just a cyst like this doctor/client has said. It's always better to stay as positive as possible in our thinking until we have tests completed and concrete results. Stress is never good...it makes our immune system work extra hard. You have a great day too!...Love...Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)0 -

Hey Guy! Hey Sue! Hey Everyone!
Sorry for the being slow to get back on here. It was a hectic week, followed by a hectic weekend..
Well, my doctors appointment was on Thursday and she said it appears to be a fatty cyst( lipoma?) I told her that I'd like it looked at further to be sure and she said "I have no problem recommending you to a specialist, but there's no surgeon that's going to touch it because it's a cyst" I asked "how do you KNOW just by looking at it and touching it?" She said because of texture/density, the way it moves, none of my lymph nodes were swollen and there was something else that I can't remember. But she is sending me the info of a specialist this week. She said the lump was not a concern to her, but my liver was! Great! She said it's almost 4cm lower than it should be so she wants me to go for a sonogram. I had blood work done and Saturday they called and said my levels were all fine.. including for my liver But I'm still going to make the sonogram appointment AND an appointment to see someone for my arm specifically ( I just went to my regular doctor)
Thank you all so much for your care and support. It means a lot to me OH! Here's something kinda cool.. ( and one of the reasons this week has been crazy) I was approached by someone wanting me to work at their facility and in addition to everyday people, they also train a lot of athletes. Check out their client list... www.sweatperformance.com I started the training/learning Saturday and it'll continue this week and I should (fingers crossed) begin the following week
I'll let you all know about the other appointments as well. Goodnight all.. Sleep well0 -

Hi Jen,
I think your decision to move forward and have the lump checked out further by a specialist is a great idea. It's better to rule out everything and then be done with it. The deal with your liver is strange, but it's good news your blood levels were fine. Getting the sonogram done will show if there is anything to be concerned about with your liver. You are making very wise choices here with getting everything checked out.BTW.. I went to the Sweat Performance web site and indeed they have some impressive clients! Sounds and looks like a great place to work. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you to land the job. You have a "Happy Thanksgiving" and thanks for getting back to us. Love...Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)0
