Time for some good news around here!

Today when I asked John how are you doing he said "GOOD"! He is 7 weeks post surgery and starting to feel good. He started back to gym and I can see all ready how just a little bit of exercise is helping his general well being. He is learning how to eat with his new esophagus and stomach. He is able to eat everything even steak with no problem. The hard part for John was trying to figure out quantity. The last couple of days he stopped drinking anything with his meal. He always drank water with a meal. This has made a world of difference. Now I did give him that suggestion early on but he had to figure it out for himself. He has gained 5lbs and is up to 140 LBS., he is very happy about that. All in all I think he has turned the corner to getting back to his new normal. The fatigue is subsiding too, which was something that was also bothering him. You all have been here for me through the more challenging times and I thank you. Just thought I would give a positive up date.
Love to you all

Three Cheers and a High Five!!!
    Hello Erica and John,
Wonderful to hear your good news! Good things do come to those who wait don't they? Glad to hear you are back at the gym. Exercise is a wonderful, positive, thing to do for body and especially mind. Continue to take it slow, remember slow and easy wins the race! Here's to many more "good" days! Hugs to you both.

    Double Woo Hoo! Isn't it
Double Woo Hoo! Isn't it funny how you tell them what is the best way to eat but they have to do for themselves. Stomach distress is a powerful teacher. Keep up the good work! :)

    Great John is feeling so
Great John is feeling so much better. Going to the gym was what helped me regain my strength and mental attitude. It's amazing how exercise can be such a benefit. It is a challenge to learn a new way of eating, but it's a joy, even with the new way, to enjoy food again.
Johns dx was the same as mine--T3N1M0 and I'm still doing fine after four years.
    Thanks for the positive update,
    Sandra

    wonderful news
So so happy to hear this Erica. And, it is so inspiring to me as my husband approaches surgery on November 17th. You've been an amazing support to me Erica, and so generous with your wisdom and support. I can't wait to be there for others and share the good news.
Keep up the great work John. You are going to get stronger each day with that spirit and perseverance.

    Alright!!
So glad to hear this news!! I am still trying to get Jeff to buy into the gym, glad that John is able to get back to his routine.

Thanks for urging us to use the feeding pump, it is weird but as soon as he started using the pump his appetite came back and he is eating up a storm. I think he is gaining weight now! It has also made Chemo much easier on him.

Again so great to hear this news,

    Hugs,

    Niki

    Thank You
Tina-Thanks for being her for all of us you are a great support. You are right slow and steady. The first couple of days I think he over did it (last week) but I think he is starting to get the hang of his new normal & how much he can eat and exercise at one time.
Beth & BMGky -LOL I know sometimes it is just better to let the guys figure it out for themselves! He did have some painful hours when he over ate but he is learning
(I think the hard way but…LOL)
Jim-Thanks for the encouragement as you know this is a fight but some of us are winning!
Sandy- Speak of winning 4 Years NED All I can say is YEA!!!!! I agree about the gym, I did keep my gym routine up for the most part during the last 5+months and it does make a big difference and good for my waistline, LOL!
Cora-I know that post surgery seems far off for you but your turn will come and I’m here to help you any way I can. Keith will do great and 9-10 weeks from now you will be posting about how great Keith is doing.
Niki & Terry- What can I say I feel like we all started this journey together and we are all here on the recovery side (we still all have challenges).
Everyone here is of great support but you both hold a special place in my heart. All I can hear is “It was the Best of times, it was the Worse of times”. It is a roller coaster I am so glad you have been riding in the seat right next to me, (I hate roller coasters, LOL)! Don’t forget we still need to meet on the beach for an umbrella drink & if that can’t be arranged we need to have an umbrella drink phone call one day!
    Love to everyone!
