Hey there, yeah when I do take it I use black pepper too...apparently it's not water soluble either and it's best with some kind of oil/fat....so I mix it with grape seed oil and gulp it down (weird way to take shots!!! Yes, I do this in a little shot glass!!!) ...it's really yucky tasting, but it's over with fast Hey, I could do jello curcumin shots!!!0 -
My understanding
from the studies I've looked at is that you need to take pretty high doses, difficult to achieve with the spice from the gorcery store (Curcumin is a concentrated form of tumeric). I take either 1 or 2 500 mg. capsules a day, followed up by some kind of cancer fighting veggie like cabbage, brussel sprouts or kale in a dressing of olive oil, basalmic vinegar and black pepper. I don't know precisely how much oil and pepper are needed, so I just use the amount that makes it taste good! I have found that I have to take a break from it after a week or so, as it causes some significant diarrhea. That resolves in a few days and I go back on it. This is one of those "can't hurt, might help" kinds of things for me. Ann
PS If you want some clinical data, MD Anderson has some studies they have done.0 -

You can add it to all your favorite dishes with a couple dashes of pepper, that will help. I also take 1 or 2, 500 mg a day.0 -
