Hi, I was on oxi and 5fu and I was pregnant at the same time fun!!! But I had a really bad pain in my chest for a weeks it was sooo bad i slept sitting up..It got to the point that I could not breathe and i felt like my lung had collapsed so i was rushed to er and they found a very large blood clot in my lung.. so I had to inject myself for 6 months until i finished chemo...About 3 months after finishing chemo i got a similar pain again so I went to er just in case and had a ct scan there was no blood clot but my D dimers blood test was positive so they think I had a blood clot !!!! 3 weeks later I found out my cancer was back in my lymph nodes...... I now take warfrin once a day..So much better then the injections but i do have to have a blood test once a week to check my levels..... They thought the blood clot the first time was due to cancer and pregnancy and chemo so they said i prob would never ever get another one..well i did!!!0 -

I had 2 blood clots when I was doing Iranatica. One caused from a PICC line in my right arm. They put me on Lovinox like you and removed the line then put a port in my chest. Well that was a great idea. I woke up on New Years day to numbness and a red swollen left arm. I had a clot in my juggler vein which landed me in the hospital for a week getting 2 angioplasty and hepervan (very powerful and dangerous blood thinner. Onec I was released it was back to Lovinox injections followed by Coumadin. What an experience. This was 4 years ago but now I found out I have a recurrence in y liver. I am going to request Xeloda instead of 5FU so I don't need a port or PICC. Good luck to you an keep fighting the cancer and doctors.0 -
Yup
My husband had a massive blood clot in a varicose vein in the back of his leg after two months of Avastin, which is what we assumed caused the clot. I give him Lovenox every day and may have to for a long time. Doctor said that the particular place he got the clot was not serious since the vein didn't go back to any organs but that he might get another one that could be serious.0 -
Clots and Cancer
Hi Lydia,
Yep... unfortunately, cancer patients are prone to clots... that's just the reality of fighting this disease. Just by fluke they found I had a small clot in one of my lungs and we found that when doing a routine scan. I'm now on Fragmin, which I have to give myself an injection twice/day. They will re-check things after 6 months to see if I can come off the Fragmin (form of Heparin, a blood thinner), but the Hemotologist said that it's possible I could be on the blood thinner for years. As long as I have to keep having chemo (doesn't matter which kind) then that puts me at risk for blood clots.
If it's not one thing, it's another!

Oh well....
For whatever it's worth.....?
Around six or so months ago, I had a DVT behind my left kneecap.
My left leg was swollen and I was in terrible pain. My western med
physician(s) insisted I take blood thinners and "clot busters", and
consider a special operation to install an "umbrella" looking device
in the main artery to try to stop the clot from going to the lung and
becoming a PE, perhaps killing me.
I refused all that, and asked my TCM doc. He gave me an herbal
broth to take to get my own body to dissolve the clot.
Two days later, the swelling went down and the pain was gone.
They couldn't figure out where the clot went, or if it is still someplace
inside me, but I'm still here 6 or so months later, pain free and alive
(so far).
That's my personal experience.
Best of hope for good health,

I was on same
plus avastin, I think the avastin keeps the blood thinner, I never had problems with blood clots.
Sorry you have to do those injections, Ouch!!!

I just got power. I'm one of the lucky ones who had no power for 7 days due to the october snowstorm. They cancelled my infusion until next week. I continued to inject myself. My leg still hurts a little, not as bad.
