How's that rash this AM?
(((HUGS))) Maria
it is almost gone. I did use benydril, took away the itch. THanks for asking!
Did you switch to carbo with the gem? How was it? I don't know how you have tolerated cis/gem so long! I was litterally knocked off my feet for 4 days with my first infusion of carbo/gem. Just coming up for air!
Hugs back to you!

I developed an allergy to carbo... I can't believe it, but it was almost a year ago! I was switched to cisplaten/gemzar and have been doing cisplaten/gemzar one week and gemzar the next. I then get two weeks off and I need all of it to regroup. I'm down for the count for at least 4 days. I'm kind of concerned that cisplaten is in such low supply and I might have to switch to taxetore. It takes me exactly fourteen days from my first infusion till I'm strong enough to run around and enjoy myself. I hope you're feeling better today!

Did you have a reaction right after the infusion? A rash?
I'm still a bit ithcy and am concerned, but it could be from the gemzar, the chemo nurse said yesterday when I went in for my day 8 infusion of gem.

My reaction to carbo happened during infusions, although I do get a runny nose for several days after any chemo. This is how it went for me... I started getting this flushing feeling during the last couple of infusions with carbo, then the next chemo, my hands started itching, then my feet, then my hands got really hot and red, then my feet joined in, then I got this red rash on my neck that started moving up.... the chemo nurses sprung into action and stopped the drip, injected benedryl and a steroid directly into my port and we waited to see if that would allow me to complete my infusion. I was able to finish, but they slowed it down so much that it took hours. The next carbo/gemzar infusion, the allergic reaction was almost immediate and I was not able to do even a quarter of the infusion. I hated having to cross carbo off my list, but they switched me to cisplatin and (knock wood!) that seems to be working.
Best of luck with your gemzar...... (((HUGS))) Maria0 -

This is helpful! I have had runny nose and sore throat, for a few days after infusion, with this chemo, which is new for me. I assume it is the gemzar, since it also happened on gemzar only.
