I had my first CA 125 test early last week, the first since my last chemo in July. I had been at 6 since my debulking surgery on May 5. For the last 2 months I've had a sore throat which was finally diagnosed 2 weeks ago as oral herpes! If my immune system couldn't ward off herpes, how could it stave off cancer? It takes a while to get the results here (Scotland), but I went to the surgery yesterday for another reason and asked. I was told it would be a few more days. As I was leaving, the receptionist came running out to my car. With a big grin she handed me a piece of paper. CA 125 4.4!!! I almost cried on the spot. What a relief! I'm almost 6 months NED and going strong.

    Yeah...awesome news!
I'm so glad that they have diagnosed your throat problem, also. Lots of us come down with these things that our immune system can normally handle while on chemo. For me it was shingles........ ouch! I'm so happy for you.

That is so great I understand wanting to cry when you see the number so low. I will find out tomorrow when I go in for my last big chemo what my number is every time I have gone in it has gone down the last time it was 5 I told my mom I wanted to see a 0 this time she laughed and said I don't think you will every see a 0. I want it anyway lol I think if I had to go through all of this crap with chemo, side effects, and the fear of losing my life I should get to see it at 0. I will keep you in my prays that you stay low and maybe just maybe get to see it at 0 also. We all deserve to see it al 0 if only for one time because I think that would make us feel like yesssss we have won.

Thanks so much to ALL of you!
It's really special to have people to celebrate news that doesn't mean much to most people. That little number can do a trip on us. But I'm not looking for 0. I wanted that after May, when I was at 6, but now I know that anything below even 15 is just fine. "Perfect is the enemy of good," and all that. We're all winning in stunning fashion when we're in NED.
