Body Aches?
I'm having pain in my shoulders, legs, feet and hands. It's not constant, but more than it was. How long does this last? I know he plans to keep me on Avaistan for maintenance for at least 2 yrs.
I might mention that I took the flu shot Tuesday. (first time I've ever had one) I have been running a low grade fever today. (99.2) Any connection between the two?
Thanks Ladies,
Carla

twins
we could be twins I am on taxol/carbo with avastin four times five of taxol/carbo I will have my last round on the 20th and then on avastin only as maintance for two years also. I have been up since 3pm yesturday because of the pain. My shoulders, hips, knees, ankles, and feet are in pain. I am taking 30 mg of morphine three times a day, 10 mg of oxycodone up to five pills a day. They have not really help as you can tell since I have been up for over 24 hours. I realized today that this is from the avastin and it starts just under a week away from next treatment and it will last for about four days. I will be feeling better before the next treatment. I have not had the flu shot yet so it is not from it.

Anne, it doesn't sound fun to be on Avaistan for two years then, does it? My shoulders have real hurt. However, they seem to be better. Last Wed. I baked a 10 lb. ham. I'm kinda thinking I pulled something taking it out of the oven. My son told me I should have let someone else get it out. Guess I'm too independent. LOL! Are you tired? I just wish my platelets would come up. He gave me my 5th treatment with them at 74. I knew it would take awhile for them to rebound. They were 43 last Tuesday. I go back again this Tues. for another blood check.
When did you have surgery? Mine was May 18. I am stage 3c clear cell. Last CA-125 nearly 2 weeks ago was 14 It was 106 when I began chemo in late June.
Hope you find some relieve soon.

I had my surgery on the 21st of June right after they found the cancer because my lungs kept filling up and they knew it would not stop until they did the surgery. I am stage four and my ca-125 started off at 2000 and is not down to 5 I hit remission after three treatment. No staying on the avastin in some ways does not sound like fun my shoulders hurt so bad I can not lift them they will be better in a few days this last for about four days and them back to normal. I though at first I pulled something also then when this happened three times in a row around six days before my next treatment I realized it was the advastin. I hope that it is not the same for you but just keep an eye on it and see if it happens again after your treatment. I have been very luck my blood count did not go down at all durning treatment so I have been able to have them on schedule but yes I am tired a lot I use to run a group home of adults with mental handdycapps before they found the cancer. I was still working 40-50 hours a week when I found out I had cancer and now I can't work at all it sad I miss my ladies and I miss feeling like I could take care of myself.

Hopefully it was the flu shot. I'm in a trial - GOG-252. I had taxol/cisplatin and Avastin, then continued on Avastin alone every 3 weeks. I'll have my last Avastin treatment the day before Thanksgiving. Besides the usual Avastin side effects, I immediately started having severe neck pain and stiffness and shoulder pain once the maintenance phase started in January. While that isn't really listed as a side effect of Avastin, there are many women who complain of it. The other board, Inspire, has several women in the trial who have similar complaints. The neck pain and stiffness is constant, the arm/shoulder pain will just come on, last 3-4 days, then go away. When it's here, it's classic impingement type pain - I can barely lift my arms. I've been in physical therapy since May - deep tissue massage - tried accupunture, have had cortisone injections in my shoulders, etc. I'll be interested to see if it goes away when the Avastin stops. I was dx. in July 2010, stage 3a, grade 3, clear cell.0 -

Anne:
My neck pain and stiffness started right away and has been relentless - some days are worse than others. The shoulder/arm pain and stiffness comes and goes. I have noticed that when I first started on the Avastin, the pain and stiffness in the shoulders and arms wasn't as frequent. But as time has passed, those 3-4 day episodes of shoulder and arm pain have become more frequent. I used to say that I had good days and bad days. Now I pretty much say I have bad days and not so bad days! I haven't able to detect a pattern with it. At least with the chemo, I knew when my "bad weekend" was going to be each round. This stuff just seems to pop up.0 -
