Hi,
Well I havent been on here for awhile. I was medically retired from the US Army. And myself and my lil children bought a house. I still have been in and out of the hospital for UTIs due to having stents placed in urteres(sp) so my urine can drain. My right kidney is enlarged. I have been trying to take cranberry pills every day and forcing to drink water. In June I went for a colonscopy and the GI dr preferred my bowel, so had to have emergency surgery. They had to call my oldest 1 for permission because I was still "out of it". I was in ICU for a few days. It took me longer to recover from this surgery. Also my incision site ended up getting infected 2 days after being discharged.
I was getting so frusated and depressed. The other day I get so mad and angry at where my life is. Had to go and do things with my 12 and 9 yr, plus my grandsons.
I also wonder cancer has been around forever and with ppl always donating money etc, why havent they found a cure.
I also asked my oncologist dr out of all the colorectal cancer pts have the same probelms as me. He said no. I had alot of surgeries with my colon.
One good thing I am in remission.
I still wear diapers. which I am getting used. I still get tired and when I go to Walmart etc so I use the wheelchair. My oldest daugther still gets mad/angry because of me having cancer. She said I waited to long.
Anyway thanks for listening
God Bless all of you
Barbara

Hi
Dear Barbara, sorry to hear that you have had so many difficulties but very glad for the news that you are in remission.
Day to day living can be difficult that is for sure. Now that you are retired you probably have more time on your hands and more time for thinking about things. I hope that you can find something which you can do from home on an as you feel like it schedule which will help fill the time. I know for me the less time I have to think about cancer the better so I fill my time with reading and crocheting and helping out my daughter.
As for your daughter's anger...it is not unusual for a loved one to feel the frustration of not being able to help or make things better and express it as anger to the patient. Perhaps there is a counselor at the local ACS who could help you both...her with her anger and you with your depression.
None of us expected our lives to take this turn of events. We have to be able to find a way to carry on to the best of our ability. Don't let cancer take the sunshine out of your life and of those you love.
Hugs,
Marie who loves kitties0 -
