Hi Kent
I don’t believe it will give a false-positive as I had a very bad sinus infection and it did not show up on the PET scan but did show up on the MRI but only as an infection.
Hope it all goes well for you my brother and you know you are always in my prayers

Doctors followed me with CT scans for a long time and I have chronic sinus infections. The infections would show up but as an infection not a mass/recurrence. I would not worry about it at all.
Meredith.

Inflamation
I think it's hard to say Kent. I would presume it would also be skewed if you have inflamation going on that you might not be aware of. Inflamation or infection does show up as high cell activity.
I had a case of Diverticulitis going on during my intitial PET. It lit up and glowed as bright red, orange, yellow and white....
Thoughts and prayers for a good report,

Kent,
I hope your CT is clean and perfect. I also hope your cold goes away and you feel better soon.

to all who've responded. My research has led me to the conclusion that the congestion is likely a post-Op Sinusitis. Had an Op last Friday under General Anesthesia at a local, uh, uh, how do I put this, uh...Kidney Center. Surgeon made two 2" cuts, and one 3" cut in my, uh, uh...where I wished he hadn't had to cut me- which is where I think I took a knee, once, from a gal I mighta said or done something wrong to. Kinda makes me wonder if this Hydrocelectomy experience could be the Skiffin/PEG revenge! Anyway, I'm on Cephalexin, and still this Sinusitis developed. Will have that to throw past the ENT when I see him- could not make it to Friday's appointment, because I forgot when it was. Maybe next week, unless I get a call that I'm hoping not to get. Anyway, thanks to all. And, Meredith- I hope you are right.

Forgetfulness is a sure sign of getting old, I have to write everything down or put it into my I-phone on my calendar in order to remember it. Wishing you well on getting help with the sinus problem my friend.
:+))
