final summary, loved it, best 10 days of the healing journey
meditation is the key,
all else follows.
the calm aware mind sees the beauty around us,
in nature, in each other and in ourselves.
from this enhanced mental strength comes determination, courage and love.
i am really living on a different plain to where i was. i still cannot spell. alas.
the last few days were really emotional and a really opportunity for personal growth, which i took. I had the warmest hugs you could imagine. I felt loved and made the best contribution I could make.
some days i hardly said a word SILENT=LISTEN same letters ain't that cute.
and other days well i pushed the envelope, made a few laughs here and there.
After the ice melted, i started to take a few photo's massive understatement. I have caputred amazing memories, that i know will bring back many memories, messages and emotions from the course. these will really help some stick to the lifestyle interventions advocated. at least thats my prayer.
back to the different plain, meditated at the park for 20 minutes and tonight for 20 minutes in a radox bath. took my shirt off both times. the imagery of getting a vitamin d shower in the sun works for me.
had no credit card or money to spend. I went with $20 and came home with $20. some attendees spent over $500 on massages, counselling, books and cds. I really wanted to travel lite, russel gave me a red clown nose that my kids love and sarah gave me the cook book from the course. I snuck onto the bus to the airport and they have not charged me yet.
still flew home business class, gotto love those frequent flyer points. i looked a sight in the executive lounge with my massive long red scarf and bush jacket and unshaven. A bit of a hippy. they had vegetarian food and leather recliner chairs where I meditated on nothingness. On the plane my vegan meal arrived as per my preferences. qantas is a top full service airline. the hosty gave me presents and lollies for the kids and business paper for my wife. all the executives in business class were drinking the free flowing alcohol while I enjoyed a tomatoe juice. the executives typed busily on laptops and all seemed to be getting nowhere fast. this kind business woman next to swapped to help me as I was having frequent loo visits during the flight, then she donated her green salad that she did not touch, even my daughter knows more about health than she does.
meditated for 20 minutes at the airport as wife car brokedown. got the biggest hugs and kisses from the kids and had a lovelly dinner for my sons bithday.
goto sleep now.
peace and hugs,
Pete
PS if you get the chance "just do it" as nike says and my wife is starting an ian gawler based medititation tomorrow morning. we can spend our time together thinking about nothing.
I have it in writing kind of from the foundation chairman that if I stick to the lifestyle interventions I can do the 5 day refresher for free. I'll bring my wife and kids as well.
already explained to the kids about stress stucks down the immume system and that helps cancer. they are now peaceful little angles, well sometimes.0 -

Pete,
I used the Relaxation Response during Folfox for nauseau. My experience with relaxation response was during the birth of my sons 25 and 30 years ago. Tai Chi is being recommended by the Mayo Clinic for those with high blood pressure, heart disease and now cancer. Meditation and Tai Chi help with balance, both physical and emotional. Attending your retreat sounds like a wonderful life altering experience.
NB
I am also taking 1 81mg adult low dosage aspirin to prevent recurrence.0 -
we did 6 sessions of qigong as wellrelaxoutdoors08 said:Tai Chi and Chi Gong

hi nb,
thanks for the reply, i really liked the qigong. the challenge is to make the practice real and daily, also want to do yoga. my wife did her first meditation course today.
the relaxation response was used so long ago, its not advocated widely for pain control. its the chespest and most effective, our society has stopped learning from our mistakes.
glad your doing the aspirin. going to check wih my gp about this as well and find out about if my blood is to thin as a result of the tumeric and juicing i do.
the retreat was life changing, i hope to make meditation a daily practice.
hugs,
