    Heartburn and Acid Reflux
As Mary mentioned, I too had heartburn, especially during the chemo phase....later that just settled into acid reflux very frequently.

I took Pepcid for the heartburn, and now have a prescription for Protonix for the Reflux...

    Best,

    Heart burn
I only seem to get heartburn during or right after I have my 5FU pump removed , the onco office suggested I take zantac 150...seems to eleviate the heartburn right away.

    burning stomache
Thanks for the info on acid reflux--never had his problem before.Seems I caused some of it from Peg Tube feeding too much--like four cans to close to bed time--just trying to gain some weight and burning stuff came up in mouth. thanks to all who posted back.

    Acid Reflux
I seemed to have it worse when I couldn't eat...LOL, go figure.

I think that even though I couldn't eat, I could still smell, and of course the endless hours of watching the food channel, LOL...

I would still produce the acid and at night, I'd wake up to the gagging, burning acid that would come up.

I'd drink a swig of milk, thinking it might at least neutralize it...not sure.... But once I started taking the protonix I haven't had it since then.

    Gastrointestinal issues
I don't know if this will work for you. But I found that when I am on chemo, I would get constipated. I found that it helped if you ensure that the bowels are moving and stuff is not all getting backed up. I took Senna for constipation and that somehow helped with the heartburn once I got things moving. Also helps to make sure you are hydrated. Good luck.
