peach fuzz

in Ovarian Cancer #1
Hi all next week is my 5th treatment of taxol/carbo and in October with be my 6th and last of the taxol/carbp and I will only have advastin for five more months after that. The nurse said that with only taking advastin that my hair will start growing back. Here's my question I did not lose all of my hair I have a very fine Peach fuzz about maybe 1/4 of an inch long. How long after I stop the taxol/carbo will my hair start to grow back. Also what I have seems to be snow white. My hair was dark blonded but I did start to go grey at 17 and by the time I was told I had cancer which was june of this year I was 60 percent gray. At 45 years old I am not ready to be grey yet can I color my hair once it grows back?

    When I first lost my hair from chemo it was gray and white, grew back curly.
    Second time my hair grew back grey and straight. This last time it's growing back dark brown, which I haven't seen since I was a young girl, Looks kinda silly only because I'm 64. The fuzz took a long time to grow in, finally had it shaved and it grew back faster and thicker. Kathy

    They say to wait
    They say to wait til after six months after treatment but I didn't and did not have any problems.

    My first "fuzz" was almost
    My first "fuzz" was almost transparent - no color at all. I lost every hair on my body, however, so it wasn't leftover, but the new growth. It also had a weird texture, almost like cotton candy. I really hated it.

    I don't know if the first crop of hair grew out or fell out, but it was eventually replaced with regular hair, but it was very fine and thin. And three different colors.

    I presently have gray in front, dark brown in back. I'm still waiting for what I jokingly refer to as "public hair" - meaning I can go out in public with my head uncovered and not feel self-conscious.

    I made friends with my wig early-on, however, so it's no longer a big deal for me. There is a lot to be said for not having to spend more than 60 seconds on your hair.

    There are a lot of chemicals and toxins in hair color. My hair dresser keeps trying to talk me into coloring my hair, claiming that the color contains "natural" ingredients. My naturopath says emphatically "No way." I have read that anything that has an ingredient containing a word with "propyl" in it should be avoided, as this form of alcohol promotes cancer growth. I have looked long and hard, and have only found one brand of shampoo (Aubrey) that does not contain any "propyl" ingredients. If it's that hard to find shampoo without it, I am sure hair color contains many things that are best avoided. The only thing my naturopath has suggested for hair coloring is henna. My hair dresser claims that stuff is awful and no one uses it anymore. I'm staying away from all of these options.

    Thanks for your comments and I will probably get it colored I have had my hair colored for many years since I started going grey at 17. I will wait at least 6 months before concidering it so that I know I am making the right choice. I am looking forward to it coming in curly because my hair has always been fine and staight and had to pay for it being curly so it will be fun to have it come in that way.

    Anne I would not count on getting curly hair, if you do that is great. My hair was always fine and thin and straight. I also had to pay to have it curly and it looks as if I still will have to. My hair color is still to be determined. It is white, gray, lt. brown with a little blonde. strange. Sharon

    well if it does not come
    well if it does not come back curly that's ok as long as it comes back :)
