Hi
My mom had the port cath put in last monday(10 days ago) and she told me tonight that it still hurts. How long does it take before it doesn't hurt anymore? She is supposed to start her Chemo tomorrow, can they even use the port if it hurts that much?

    Heeran, mine is 8 days old today. It's my second one. There is a cream I have called LMX and I have used it for months. It numbs the skin so that we don't really feel the needle stick. I have been putting cold backs on mine for sevreral days to help the swelling go down. I have an infusion starting this morning. Good luck to your mom. Sam
