Hi all:

Haven;t updated in awhile so wanted to let you all know that I am finishing my radiation plus Xeloda in just two days. After that, Tamoxifin and maybe more Xeloda. I see Dr. Cristafanelli, my oncologist/IBC specialist next Tuesday.

Not sure how getting back to "normal" life is going to be....glad to be finishing this round of treatment but now the waiting game begins....scans, bloodwork, anxiety...

Trying to take it one day at a time and stay in the moment and not jump into future scenarios.

Any thoughts about life after treatment ends?

Laura

    Laura...
Congrats on finishing rads!!! I was a week a head of you...finished a week ago today....whew! I will continue the Xeloda for another 8 weeks with an upped dosage now....3 in the morning and 3 in the evening.....one week on and one week off...then I will have the scans...Oncologist said it takes about 6 weeks for the radiation to "leave" the body...so it's wait and see for me...I've tolerated the Xeloda very well, but with the upped dosage he said side effects could start to show...

I'm so gald you're finished rads....YEAH! Give yourself time......I plan on making these next 8 weeks as pleasant for myself as possible...because I don't know what's around the corner....your body and mind needs time to heal from all the trauma..... Just not having to go every morning at 7:30 AM for rads has helped my energy level already...

Keep me posted....you know I care.....rest as much as you can...
    Big hugs, Nancy

TO me the last day of
TO me the last day of radiation was a day for HAPPY Dance..the ONLY date I remember! I had planned a Disney trip (Girls only first time) once I was done. (had something to think about each day laying on table)

I have been on TAmoxifen for just over 3 yrs..(did have hystertomy due to side effects)

I read here some do happy dance and others do not...so go with what is you...

    Yipee!! Congrats rad grad!!
I finished rads 7/8/11 and after the initial couple of weeks to a month of wondering what was next and worrying about bc "getting" me while no one was looking I have settled in pretty well. My inner Cleopatra and Scarlett O'Hara have stepped in to tell me nothing is wrong with me and if there is I will deal with it tomorrow. That works most days and my freak out times are getting farther apart. I am sure that will change as I get closer to my mammogram, ct scan and MO visit mid-October, and the 1 year anniversary of my diagnosis and treatments starting November 1.

I hope your doctor has nothing but good things to tell you at your appt.

    You go girl!

    WOW CONGRATS....
ONE THING IS TO WALK, TAKE WALKS.

DON'T TAKE THAT CELEBRATION VACATION FOR A FEW MONTHS.... LET YOUR STRENGTH BUILD BACK UP THIS.

THEN DON'T BUT, HARD ON YOURSELF IF YOU GET TIRED EASY... YOU'VE BEEN THROUGH ALOT

IF YOU WORK, GO BACK TO WORK.... AND ENJOY....

IF YOU DON'T WORK GO BACK TO DOING YOUR RETIRED STUFF.... OKAY MAYBE NOT ALL IF IT RIGHT AWAY... PICK ONE OR TWO....

REMEMBER TO WALK, TALK WALKS, WALK IN THE MALL IF YOU HAVE TOO.... IT'S IMPORTANT TO BUILD YOUR STRENGTH BACK UP.

IF FEELS WEIRD NOT GOING TO THE CANCER CLINIC BUT, YOU WILL GET USED TO IT.

AND WHEN THE RECHECKS START... MAN YOU'LL BE NERVOUS... AND IT WILL BE OKAY... COOL.
WHEN ANOTHER RECHECK.... MAMMO AND ANOTHER..RECHECK...

I'M FOUR YEARS OUT AND I GET NERVOUS A FEW DAYS BEFORE MY RECHECKS, I HAVE THEM EVERY SIX MONTHS NOW. AND, I SWEAT IT STILL.

SOME PLACES HAVE A TRANSITION PROGRAM CALLED SOMETHING LIKE AFTER TREATMENT NOW WHAT... YOU MIGHT WANT TO ASK THE CANCER CENTER OR LOCAL HOSPITAL.

AGAIN CONGRATS... FOR A THE HARD WORK AND DOING A GREAT JOB...

YOU'LL MAKE THROUGH THIS AWKWARD TIME... JUST REMEMBER LIVE LIFE LIKE IT'S THE LAST....
