Went in for my 8th treatment of Folfox

on Friday, 9/9 and to my surprise...my Onc decided to place me on maintenance chemo!! YAY! No more pump, no more full day infusions and no more Neulasta shots (for now). I will still go in every 3 weeks, 1 30 minute infusion of Avastin and I will do 8 of these total. My tumor marker is at 1.3....he told me normal is between 0 and 3.0. I am still having some side effects; don't know if it's cumulative from all the others but extreme headaches and running to the bathroom at times. That's okay though....I'll take a "chemo holiday" if they want me to. I have MRI scheduled for Monday, 9/26 (day after my 52nd birthday) to see how the lesions in my liver have responded since July. I am very hopeful that this will put me on the road to getting my life extended. Who knows what researchers will come up with in the next year or years ahead. I've got to hold on to that attitude that I'm going to beat this. Keep your fingers crossed for me and please say a little prayer that the MRI will give me good news! Thanks all!

Thinking of you with prayers
Pam,
I attended Mass today and lit a candle for all who are facing scans and tests on this board. My scans (I need scans every 3 months) are this week so praying for all of us to get good results from our treatment and good news on the tests. Positive thoughts and "good vibrations" for next week.

I feel a special connection with. I pray for you and think of you often. I pray there will be a cure for us all soon also. You know, there are parts of me that just weren't living until I was diagnosed with cancer and had to actually fight to stay alive. I have young children just like you and know for a fact, without even ever meeting you in person, that your drive to live and see those kids grow up is as strong as mine. I WON'T give in and I won't give up. There is too much I still want to enjoy and be a part of. We're going to make it Buzz.....hang in there with me!

I'm so anxious to find out the results. It will be a long week next week until Friday comes and I find out. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
