Juicing
Carla,
Juicing is a great way to get nutrients in amounts that are difficult to acheive by eating the solid food. There are many, many juicing books out there, with various recipies. My two recommendations would be, use only organic fruits and vegetables, and focus mostly on vegetables for juicing. Some fruits have high sugar content that is concentrated in the juiced version.
There are actually cancer therapy plans out there, I didn't try them while I was in treatment, that focus almost entirely on juicing to treat cancer and other diseases (see http://gerson.org/GersonTherapy/gersontherapy.htm). I do know that prior to my diagnosis, when I was struggling with symptoms and misdiagnoses, if I juiced, my symptoms were drastically reduced for the remainder of the day.0 -

I don't do fresh juice on a regular basis but I have known people who did well after a cancer diagnosis by incorporating fresh juice in their diet. I use the Standard Process nutritional products many of which are made from the juice of fresh vegetables that are dehydrated at a low amospheric pressure so the natural enzymes are still intact.
Just be aware that the possibility exists to get a lot of natural sugar in your diet via juicing which might not be your intention. Apples, beets and carrots should be added sparingly to a primarily vegetable juice.

Nancy; Your juicing and supplement ideas sound interesting. Is there a site where we can get more information about it? I live in VT and there are no Gerson clinics here so I'm looking for more of a do it yourself juicing plan. Thanks0 -

Hi...
Never did this just joined site today and not a big computer person but here goes. I had a lot of luck with a good blender and Dr. Firman. He has an entire philosophy on eating and nutrition. He has books and on line recipes etc. All vey accessible. I have a friend that has a rare blood cancer and he follows the diet and has had a miracle remission.. (His Dr. Own words.) Anyway. I like some of those smoothies and soups and meals and have had both action in the bathroom and lessening of side effects to various things.
Good luck

What type of
Hi Karen,
What type of blender do you have? I'm using one of those like $20 ones? Doesn't even always blend or chop frozen fruit well.
Also, what is the full name and any other info you could give me on Dr. Firman? I googled but couldn't really find anything.
Thanks so much.

I got into juicing after Iunknown said:This comment has been removed by the Moderator
I got into juicing after I recurred in spring. Like Nancy, I add all kinds of veggies. I also add a protein powder and a greens supplement. I use mostly local, organic veggies and one's from my mom. My mother lives in RI and I am in Florida...she has a huge garden up there and express-ships me veggies from her garden. I feel better knowing where my vegetables are coming from0
