Thyroglobulin test level immediately after surgery

Has anyone ever had their thyroglob measured one to seven days after their thyroid has been removed ? If so, what was the level and did it indicate anything good or bad later on ?

hmm
I had undetectable Tg until I had RAI - then it shot up. I don't think this is typical, but I am not sure that Tg is as good of a marker until after RAI (from what my doc said). I'm interested to know what others note here, as I think I can learn something too

Mine after my second surgery was 4.5, then I had RAI. My doctor wont test it again until December or January - he says you need to wait at least 6 months after RAI.

Plus I need to go off my thyroxin or get the shots if available.

I'd be interested in knowing more about this testing as well.

TG is best measured 4-6
TG is best measured 4-6 weeks after TT, then again when stimulated by TSH. Not all thyroid cancers produce TG. Anyone had tumor lft, underwent RAI, and had a TG which went to zero.

The best situation is to have zero TH which having a high TSH.

they took a thyroglobulin test the day before my right side thyroidectomy and again the day before my thyroidectomy completion. but those were to be used as baselines for later.

as soon as the thyroid was out the surgeon sent me to an ENDO (ok a few weeks here) and basically stooped seeing me cause it was no longer her issue. this is a reason doctors dont know how much a pain in the ... it can be they see you find the issue take it out shake your hand and send you off to an ENDO.

they may have takeing it right after surgery to use as a baseline... they also probably did it to check for your TSH and T4 levels.

Nasher, what were those two levels ? I mean the results.

My TG level after surgery
My TG level after surgery was 524. After RAI, I had undetectable levels. I don't know if it's an indicator of anything good or bad later on...as I'm only 1 year out.

Yes, this is good. Even if it's below 1.0.
