I have posted this in several boards on here and figured I would put it here as well..


My husband has been having a lot of pain in his hip and finally had an MRI that shows "there is an enhancing macrolobulated low T1 high T2 heterogeneous signal soft tissue mass which reveals post contrast enhancement juxtaposed between the left femur and the gluteus maximus musculature"

it goes on to state "findings most consistent with soft tissue sarcoma and other diagnostic possibilities include mfh, chrondosarcoma and less likely nerve sheath tumor" "tissue biopsy is recommended as well as orthopedic oncology consultation"

we cant get into Vasicek Cancer Center until Sept 15th and i am super worried.

Can someone please help me understand this?

    I really don't know about the diagnosis, but I have been going to the Vasicek Cancer Center now for 7 years and they are awesome there. Your husband will get first class care. It's not much but hope is eases your worries a little knowing he will be in great hands.

    Hello texasharp and welcome to you and your husband. Wow...those medical terms are sure big words that are hard to pronounce and understand! My dad passed from esophageal cancer in March 2010, so I have been around this block. The T1/T2, the chrondosarcoma, the nerve sheath tumor, all sound like something along the lines of cancer. The recommendation for tissue biopsy is correct, to see if this tumor is cancerous or not. The oncology consultation is correct, so you can all discuss the results of the biopsy and where to go from there. From what I have heard, Vasicek Cancer Center is top notch, and 9/15 is really not that far away. Your husband waiting another 10 days for his consultation is not going to make much of a difference. Welcome aboard, it will be a long, bumpy, ride...but we are always here for you. We will be thinking and praying for both of you. Keep in touch.

    Waiting is the pits. It is so hard because you are facing the unknown. If you look through some of the posts here, you will see that many become stressed waiting for tests and/or test results. Hang in there. Try to concentrate on other things, not easy, and know that you are not alone in your feelings. Even seasoned caregivers hate waiting. As for the medical jargon, don't be afraid to ask your dr for an explanation of anything you don't understand. This really is a case of the squeaky wheel getting more information. Fay

    Thank you so much for your reply. It is comforting knowing there are people to listen. We just moved from VA to TX (hubby is active duty military 18 yrs)

    Just wanted to check in to see how the first visit at the Vasicek Center was?? Hope your husband is doing well.
