new article I came across about when to take your synthroid
to me this sounds like I might be able to start takeing it at night instead of in the morning... is that what everyone else reads...
wouldnt it make it so much easyer to take it at bed time if you dont take other pills then.
Craig
thats my thoughts but what do you all think.

Thank you. Good reading.
Thank you. Good reading. Yes, sounds like bedtime is a winner. Why even bother taking it in the AM ? But I read the half life is so long that it's doubtful serum levels fluctuate that much.

This study suggests that taking levothyroxine at bedtime results in better absorption than taking it before breakfast. This confirms that taking levothyroxine at different times can result in different levels of thyroid hormones in the blood, emphasizing the need to take it at the same time every day. However, this also confirms that taking levothyroxine at bedtime is an effective alternative to taking it before breakfast. Further, bedtime may be better in patients who appear to have problems absorbing levothyroxine.0 -

its the same reason they say you should not eat for an hour or 2 before bed. some of you systems shut down when you sleep... if you take it at night before bed it will probably stay in your stomach/intestinal track so it will be more absorbed.
being the doctors say you need to take it 4 hours before food and not eat anything for 1 hour afterwords... most people do the math and say when in the day do i go 5 hours with nothing but water? for most of us we get 4 hours sleep and can wait 1 hour after we wake up to eat breakfast0 -
Much Easier
Wow,
Thanks Craig for posting--that is going to make my life so much easier!!! I didn't know until about six months ago the rules of taking Synthroid--I was taking it with my Pristiq, Cytomel, and morning coffee!!! So now with school started and all, taking it has been difficult at best. Nighttime I can do easy!!
