Hoping for some words of wisdom on osteosarcoma

Hi...I'm from the colorectal group but I have a longtime friend who's son was just diagnosed with osteo sarcoma. He's in his 20's. I posted on the bone cancer board too before I saw the sarcoma board. I guess I'm hoping for some words of wisdom from someone who has been there. The son, Justin, is very depressed and says he won't do any of the proceedures that he doesn't want to live like this. He hasn't started any treatments yet but they say kneecap replacement and "vacuum" the joint area if it hasn't spread. If its spread, then above the knee amputation. I appreciate any input.
