I am a thyroid cancer survivor but found this and figured it might be important to you on this site

Aug. 17, 2011 -- The FDA today approved Zelboraf, a drug that can extend survival for the 50% of melanoma patients whose tumors carry the BRAF V600E mutation.

    Dad's onc just sent sample off to be tested for this mutation. We should know by the end of next week or so, and if he has it, hopefully he will be able to get patient assistance with the cost. He's stage 4 with multiple mets including brain.
