Vein Pain

I just finished chemo 4. My HEM/ONC raised my dosage of Tax/Carb because he said I tolerate it well. I am disapointed that after my 3rd chemo that my CA125 only dropped 1 point from 13 to 12. My blood counts also have not dropped much. I thought that was good, but ONC said they want to see some drop to know it is effective. This is the first time that I had vein pain during infusion. They still kinda hurt now. Has anyone experienced vein pain? I am also experiencing some intense pain in my upper stomach after eating just a small bite of food. I hope this is working....i have to wait until the end of October for a body scan. Cancer sucks :(

    I think the increased dose
I think the increased dose gave you gastritis. Report this to the doctor & I'll bet you are told to take a proton pump inhibitor drug like Prilosec or Nexium.

Why didn't you get an infusion port?

    Stomach pain
After chemo my stomach hurt for two weeks and my whole abdomen felt like someone had been kicking a football around inside--a bruised, achy feeling. I saw my naturopath who said I needed glutamine powder. Glutamine is an amino acid, so it can't possibly hurt you. It calms the inflammation in the stomach and intestines caused by chemo. I took a heaping teaspoon in water twice a day, and I never had the pain again. By the way your CA125 is NORMAL, so I wouldn't think you'd need to worry about that. What was the number before your first chemo? I'm sending you all my best wishes that you feel better.

    L-Glutamine
I already take the glutamine for my bone pain. The vein pain has subsided as well as stomach pain. I am red and restless from steroids today. The bone pain will start tomorrow. I was never given the option for a port and I have always had really good veins. I only have 2 treatments left so I dont want the port at this point. I just want this over.........

    pain
I too had pain in my veins during chemo, so the next time the nurse found a larger vein in my forearm and it was tolerable. I did't have a port either and did't want one. Sometimes a day or two after infusion my vein would still hurt. good luck with your next two chemos you are almost there...val
