I am a 53 year old male, married with three daughters (21,17,14)Two weeks ago, I went to emergency because of side abdominal pains. I had seen my doctor who said that it seemed like a muscle pull. It seemed to make sense because I was helping my wife set up her new restaurant and doing a lot of physical labor. The pain continued and she said that I should get it checked out and so I went to emergency. They couldn't find anything with routine tests and thus decided to do a CT scan. I have a cancerous growth (3 cm) in the upper part of my stomach, close to the esophagus. I stayed in hospital for four days and the performed several scopes (gastro, lapro). Though not finalized, my treatment will include chemotherapy and then surgery (total removal). I still have not heard the full results of the biopsy since the head surgeon is away until next week.
Needless to say, I have a flood of emotions running through me. The surgery? Recovery? I am trying to be strong but there are days of uncertainity.

Hello FJ,
My husband was just diagnosed 4 weeks ago. Stage IV gastric CA non- operable, and the only thing that they can offer is Chemorapy. Hope for the best and stay positive. My husband just had his first round of chemotherapy last week. Best of luck to you and keep me posted.0 -
my daddy
In April 2011 my dad was diagnosed. In probably October 2010 he started having stomach pains and fluid buildup in his stomach. We went to the emergency room time and time and time again and they couldn't figure out what was wrong. They threw out a million different reasons for his symptoms and said they couldn't do anything because he didn't have any insurance so we ended up going to a bigger hospital. They did a million and one tests and finally came to the conclusion that it is cancer, but they still have no idea where. He's on chemo now and that makes him really sick. Have you been having the fluid buildup or nausea?0
