Just sharing a little of my small stuff....
I have to wear a pad everyday. (I won't go into the details but if anyone REALLY wants to know, of course I don't mind telling you.) Learned to live with it. Not a big deal. Who cares anymore that I've gone through menopause, brought on by radiation, but what the heck, I'm at that age anyway (51). Besides, a small price to pay for a possible cure(?)
Anyway, I think it was Craig--not sure--who asked a while back what we would all do or wish for or something like that. Well here is something that I would like to add to my list.
I would like to be able to not have to wear a pad. Ok, I won't be greedy. It doesn't have to be permanent or every single day. How about 1 or 2 days a week that I know for sure there is no reason to put that darn thing on? Maybe on Saturday night when I want to feel a wee bit sexy? (yeah, us older chicks want to feel desirable too) Or perhaps on hump day (no pun intended)? You know, that middle of the week thang.
thanks for listening to part of my small stuff. I could write this in a journal but somehow it's not the same. I know that here I am understood.
In the Light,
Aud

Hey Aud....
I feel the same way about the two ostomy pouches hanging
off my right side.
Cancer is the gift that keeps on giving, I suppose. Even when/if
we find ourselves in "the clear", the ramifications of treatments
and/or surgery manages to continue on and on.
On the plus side, you could probably pick up some extra cash
selling your used pads on Ebay!
(just sayin')
Best wishes for good health, and maybe a no-pad day or two!

Pad
I'm with you wearing a pad everyday. Just don't feel comfortable without it in case the bathroom isn't close enough - ugggg hate those days.

Small stuff is annoying too
Presently with the radiation diarrhea, I feel like I can't leave the house except for my treatments which happen unfortunately an hour and a half drive away. It sounds like pads might become a part of my life even later on from what I read here, (that is unless I have a permanent colostomy and even for a while then). So while wearing pads may seem a small annoyance compared to the harder stuff, I think an occasional complaint is warranted so feel free. I guess I'll probably go through menopause brought on by the radiation too. I am 53 but wasn't there yet, but have not had a period now since treatment started and I should have.
While sitting on a toilet in Menards last week, I thought I ought to write a guide for public bathrooms I have visited..........what a wealth of info that could be.

you're not alone in this
Hi Aud,
I'm also having to wear a pad daily "just in case". Most days it ends up not being needed, but there are the days when I'm glad I had it on because it wouldn't have been pretty otherwise. When I feel "the urge", I have to get to a bathroom asap & sometimes it happens when I'm out and about. No fun, I know. It makes me feel like an old woman, but I'm alive and so it's a small price to pay.
Sorry about that-

You are not alone
Hi Aud, you aren't alone with the pad wearing girlfriend. I wear them off and on and I think how unfair is this. I don't have to wear them for periods anymore because I had ablation done a few years ago because of heavy bleeding. Now I have to wear them to catch an accident in my pants???? Jeesh!!...and the bedroom? ugh at least I don't have anyone in my life to explain that to. But on the other hand I would love to have someone in my life and better practice finding the courage of a cancer patient to say "hey I'm a cancer survivor so I'm happy to be alive and learn what humbling is"...so us semi's have to stick together and give each other support and reassurance.
love and hugs, gail0
