help with anxiety GBM IV

I am under treatment for a GBM IV using a clinical trial medicine. My only problem has been anxiety attacks which occur daily. the doctors tell me that is not the results of the medicine I am on, but rather a common occurrence with this type of tumor. What can I do to help this debilitating problem?

    I hope you are doing well. I am here in San Diego as well. I too have been having some issues - GBM is a heavy burden to bear and it has been stressing me out. I will be asking my doctor the next time around for something. A previous oncologist that I had offered Paxil - a common anti-depressant. Anxiety is different and my require something else.

    Do you mind me asking what clinical trial you are involved in? Is it local?

    Nothing local
    JG, I found nothing local for treatment. Just a couple of doctors that tell me they cannot operate... And I may as well go to Bermuda and enjoy my last days. The clinic we went to is in Houston http://www.burzynskiclinic.com/ they have decades of experience with this type of cancer. In fact every year, they have family reunions where survivors come back for party.
    I don't know where this treatment is going to take me but I need to fight somehow !

    the people there are very professional, yet friendly.

    Anxiety Clinical Trial at Duke
    My husband was diagnosed on 7/3 at Duke. He is taking part in a clinical trial at Duke. They are trying a drug normally used for withdrawal from opiates (taken in large dose). They've cut the dosage and are trying this drug as a well being drug. I have no idea if you can get into the study. I wish I knew what the name of the drug is. I can find out this evening if you want me to. My husband has not talked much about his anxiety. I'm sure he has it. I sure have it, but he and I are trying to deal with this together no matter what happens. Let me know if you want me to find out the name of this drug for you.

    I have been wondering about you. Your condition is very similar to my husband's and your early posts were the first I read here. I am interested in hearing about your experience with the Burzynski Clinic. Given the level of encouragement we have concerning my husband's current treatment outcomes, it would be great to hear some positive news.

    I hope you can find something for the anxiety - I can imagine that it must be nearly overwhelming sometimes.

    Paul,
    My situation is a bit miraculous, a gbm4 diagnosed after two seizures and resected January 19 of 06. I was in a clinical trial (IL13)that didn't pass because is didn't "significantly" exceed positive outcomes from its predecessor; the chemo wafer inserted to the cavity sight following tumor resection. Following that trial, I did standard of care chemo/radiation. All was well for 2 1/2 years when I had another seizure. That MRI was negative for tumor recurrence, but the prescribed anti-seizure; Keppra, has a known side effect of irritability. I learned that after a few weeks and also learned that THC had been successful in treating seizure disorders. I've been an addict ever since and you know what? I couldn't be happier, especially since I'm not just alive, but enjoying the quality of my life.
    You should be encouraged by a facility that is celebrating survivors and I encourage you to travel that distance in order to get the best care. Good luck to you and your family.

    Have you tried Atavan? My daughter had much anxiety when she was really sick. Hope you feel better
