Appreciation Gifts
Hi Mitzi,
I think it is absolutely appropriate to thank the oncologist/nurse/lab personnel if they have given you "caring service." Even medical professionals need a pat on the back once in a while. Baked goods are always nice but my doctor prefers fruit as he is constantly watching his diet. Have you ever looked into the company Edible Arrangements? They make wonderful cut fruit arrangements made to look like a floral arrangement. They have real stores or you can order online in many places and have it delivered. I also like Good Fortunes. They make giant fortune cookies in which you can write the fortune of your choice. I have ordered from both companies and was very pleased.

L'Occitane
I gave them small packages from L'Occitane. You can buy them online or in a store and they makes products for both men and women. My personal favorite is the Lemon Verbena shower gel.

fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and pretty soy candles. They loved them. I don't think it's ever inappropriate to show appreciation.

It's never inappropriate to show appreciation, and a lot of medical professionals in the less "sexy" fields (like lab techs, mammography techs, radiologists) hardly ever get gifts.
Most people just love homebaked goods -- seriously, everyone in my oncologist's office (including the oncologists) turns into 5-year-olds with mouths full of cookie and chocolate goo on their shirts whenever I bring them my homemade chocolate chip cookies. The folks in my surgeon's office and the radiation center were a little more civilized...and the poor folks at the mammography center had no idea what to do, because no one ever brings them gifts!
In other words...just about every medical professional who's seen my breasts got homemade chocolate chip cookies out of the deal!

I have lost my baking skills...
so I took the rads techs junk food, hostess cupcakes, twinkees, and as many pink coconut covered snow-balls as the store had(what else would a breast cancer patient bring but pink boobs), plus popcorn and beef jerky. You know, all that stuff we claim to NEVER eat..unless somebody brings it to us. I took individual pkgs of chips and crackers plus boughten decorated cupcakes to my chemo graduation, made sure there was enough for everybody, other patients included.
Whatever you take or send will be perfect, especially with a thank you card included.
Congrats on reaching that milestone!!

I had a couple pretty
I had a couple pretty baskets from Christmas and started collecting small packages of neat little cookies or candies, bought Starbucks and Duncan Donut coffee and whatever else I could think of. The all loved it and everyone was recognized that way and not just a couple. We don't always see people behind the scene who never get a thank you. Hope this helps.

I took mine
Ediable Arrangments...fruit and chocolate dipped strawberries, but the thing they appreciated the most was the individual Thank you notes that I had the receptionist put at each of their stations, including one for the receptionist of course...glad you had a good and caring experience. Oncology Nurses are the best. Continued good reports. As your journey to health contiues. Sinee0 -

For my radiation techs,I ordered a quarter sheet cake decorated with the pink breast cancer ribbon and the words "Thank you" written across the cake. On my computer I printed up a message to tape to the box. On it I wrote "Woohoo... today is graduation day. Thank you for taking such great care of me". On that day they took my picture, and over a month later my picture and my message still hang on their walls.

And they all loved it. My MO and his staff push cutting back on sugar so we thought fruit would be better. EA can be a little pricey but if you can pick up you save a bit and these folks were and are so special they deserved it. My RO staff always made sure to have doughnuts in the waiting room so it was Panera Bread for them.0 -

~ I had a young team that really appreciated the time and tastiness of my baked goods~ having a young team (mostly fella's) made it a challenge to expose myself 5 days a week! they were good looking too!
Many great suggestions here~ I know you will find just the right gifts of appreciation for your team.
Maybe add a personal note that they can read (again and again) to remind them how much they are appreciated by the people and families they care for~
